Don't be fooled by the notion of Magical Drop on the PC, this is a complete mess by a hack of a publisher. If it seems colorful well, I'm in a bit of an AVGN mood.

For starters, the personality and plot of the cast was more or less written over with generic stuff. This in itself might not be such a gamebreaker if the gameplay itself was good, sadly THAT IS NOT the case.

The game freaking crashes half the time when you start it up. It's like the game itself is trying to save you from it.

Got the game loaded up nice and good? There's not alot beyond versus and story mode, where in the latter you'll run into some cowcrap difficulty where the AI will smack you around far too easily. That leaves versus mode which may work well, but it'd involve inflicting this upon your friends.

Even if it's on super sale, that money's better off someplace else.

this is a match 3 game but here you can pick up any number of the same color balls.
pickup and place sets of 3 or more as fast as you can before your opponent or you'll be flooded will extra balls.
sometimes there will be attack power ups or things to block you from making sets.
you win by flooding your opponent so a ball touches the bottom of the screen or making enough sets to get the bar in the middle to the top.

there is a new character that plays like arkanoid.
he tosses a ball (you can change its color on the fly) at ghosts above and it will vaporize any ghost of the same color it touches.
here you just try to knockout the back row so the extras will harasser your opponent.
winning is the same as above but instead of sets you need to take out X ghosts.

I was a huge fan of the previous games, so of course I picked this up as soon as I saw it.

Unfortunately, even for less than a pound, this game is completely not worth it. The graphics are somehow worse than the original, even with the HD update. The AI is beyond easy, let's just call it "terrible". Major important mechanics of the original games are just missing. Claims to have multiplayer, but it is remote-only, so no arcade experience.

This thing was such a disappointment, especially for a franchise I had so much fun with previously.

What happens when a small French indie studio gets their hands on one of Data East's best franchises?

I played a ton of Magical Drop 3 back in the day. It's probably best game made by Data East. Sorry Windjammers and Street Hoop. However Data East died in the early 2000s, so I was a bit surprised to see a new Magical Drop pop up in Steam. I bought it for five euros when it was released.

What I expected: Magical Drop HD
What I got: Magical Drop for Tablets

Full of bugs and questionable design choices, this was a major letdown for me. Even though the game is sharper and higher resolution, the art and effects used look a lot worse than in the original arcade games. it really gives you the "cheap mobile game" feeling. The game also has characters from another game called ghostlop, which doesn't fit into the game at all. Could have spent that time making more MagiDrop characters as there are only eleven in the game while MD3 had over twenty.

Worst part is that the Developer Golgoth Studio promised a patch that would fix the issues in the game. It was supposed to be released somewhere during 2013, but right now is 2015 and I'm still waiting for that patch. Well, not seriously waiting for it, but still. Same studio has also a Toki remake in the works. Or had. It was greenlit in 2013 and there has been no word about it after that, so it's probably vaporware now.

If you liked Magical Drop, don't buy this game. If you are just looking for a cheap puzzle game, then don't buy this game. It's not worth it and there are better alternatives available.
