Developed by lone designer Rich Edwards with music created by legendary chiptune artist Syphus, Pineapple Smash Crew is a fast paced tactical blast-em-up! PSC features tight squad formation shooting, aliens, robots, zombies and grenades- loads and loads of grenades! Level up and choose wisely from an assortment of devastating grenade-launched weaponry... PSC's unique modern-retro flavour will take you back to the classics of old then smash you back into the present with a 'ka-boom!'

Controls and play style are similar to the classic "Cannon Fodder". The game relies on random level design to keep things interesting, but the level randomizer just isn't up to the task -- by the time you finish a campaign, you will feel like you've replayed the same level several times over, rearranged slightly. All levels are subject to a time limit, which is more annoying than invigorating. The RPG elements (equipment, levelling) help somewhat, but they don't have sufficient influence to significantly change gameplay, nor are there enough options to keep things interesting.

Has nothing to do with pineapples. Throw grenades, and explore a ship. Enjoyable for a relatively 1-dimensional game.

The game had potential, but it was grenade centric. leveling up only determines the type of grenades you unlock.
there do not seem to be any stats, so you cannot level up speed, HP, defense, damage, accuracy
there only seems to be one type of gun, and it would have been cool if you could earn different guns, and equip each squad member with a different one.

This is, by no stretch of truth, a good game.

It has a style and sound of its own that nicely compliments the pacing and game mechanics. I saw a lot of people bashing the game, and worse still the developer, for abandoning the game.

Firstly I would like to stress that this game is more then can be expected of a lone developer, and secondly that someone releasing an actually complete game is a good thing. Yes I would have loved to have seen a thematic patch back when the game was new, or cards and achievements, but that doesn't break it for me. What killed was the price, and how the game developed into a grind if you ever tried to get your money's worth out of it.

In short this game is worth a look if it ever hits the 50% off bin again, but don't treat it as anything above the change in your pocket aracader that it is.
