Furthermore, we've tweaked a lot of different aspects of the game based on your feedback. This Beta also includes a number of balance tweaks and changes to upgrades that we're planning to implement in Update 3.3.

If you have any feedback based on the latest Beta, don't forget to let us know through the forms linked in the main menu! Should you encounter any crashes or serious connection problems, please remember to save your logs. Those are a lot of help to us if we're not able to reproduce the issue ourselves, or in case we just need some extra info! This thread describes how to get your logs! HB & The Boys win Awesome Brawl!

After fighting through six qualifiers and being seeded sixth into the Grand Finals, HarryButchers & The Boys have have defeated Mature Dads in the finals of Awesome Brawl last weekend! Congratulations to them on this accomplishment, and big thumbs up to Mature Dads and Get Juked, which came in third during the Grand Finals.

Forty different teams have participated in Awesome Brawl over the last several weeks, and we're very proud to have a completely community-created event like this achieve such success! Many thanks to all players who participated and to those members of the community who helped make this event happen!

In particular, many thanks to Tempas for setting up and hosting the entire event. We'd also like to thank community members Eddster, Devmon, MrPillow, Uberransy, SlowWolf, Oz, Leader, and Burrhe for hosting the Streams throughout the entire event! Thanks for setting up such a great show. Finally, big ups to Pasha, Fw, and Maslink for doing a lot of work behind the scenes and making sure everything turned out as well as it did, and to 6E for hosting and maintaining the NautsDrafter tool!

Awesomenauts is a fast paced brawl type game you can play with up to 3 people in a 2d side scroller. The game overall is one of the most unique games i've seen yet. This game however has so many things wrong with it i just can not find anymore enjoyment. Over the amount of time i've played, i tried each character multiple times and found many things.

There are so many issues with Awesomenauts, it's horrid. There are normal complaints about the game like a typical moba would recieve, but this game gets special complaints due to it's aspect.

This game i would not reccomend if you are returning or first picking up. Please do not. Unless you want to get placed in unfair matches with people who know far more superior tactics than you, you'll be left behind spending hours upon hours just learning the game. The spawn, where you have to control a little ship to collect the currency which is called solar is fantastic, but new players have absolutely no idea what is going on. The patterns are different from map to map, but this also makes it even harder for new or returning players to pick up on. The starting solar allows you to get a what is basically worth a kill. When you die, you lose 30 solar which isn't a terrible amount, but it does really hurt. It effectively puts the enemy team ahead 160 solar ahead due to each player getting 30 solar for killing someone, then 40 extra solar to whoever killed that person, and finally the person that died loses that 30 solar which equals the 160 solar. After a couple kills, say about 5, your team is behind 800 solar. It's insanely difficult to ever come back in a game like this. Just the solar amount is so unbalanced, a single kill can honestly make or break the game.

The match making in this game is borderline OK. If it were to be any worse, i don't think this game would be playable. I'm constantly being placed in matches where people live many miles away, recieving a lot of ping. This causes host advantage. Basically if your not the host, or they aren't close, good luck. Especially with all the debuffs that can be applied to a person, you'll be so locked down, you might as well surrender. Also you can join a game where it will basically be ending. You can literally drop leagues so fast and it would be impossible to do anything about it.

The characters in this game however are fun and have their own playstyle, they're unbalanced. A lot of people disagree with this, but some characters are just a little OP. Characters like clunk, skolldir, and derpl have larger bodies so they have a larger body block potential. This makes large mass characters have a huge advantage, where as people like Vinnie, Gnaw, and Leon much harder to body block. Now i'm not saying Body mass is what makes a person OP, it's just it gives them an advantage. Some higher damage people like raelynn, leon, and froggy, all do massive amounts of damage, but some just do more in general. Vinnie has a very high damage dash that is an AOE which could effectively be x3 damage of it's base damage instead of just 1. Vinnie alone can reach insane amounts of damage. Leon is supposed to be a stealthy assassin, but he really doesn't do a whole lot of damage since almost any debuff he recieves destroys his playstyle. he heavily relys on his basic attacks which is basically leon in a nut shell, but he does about the same amount of damage with his basic attacks as a vinnie. I could honestly make a massive list of just all the unbalanced things, it'd take a long time to make.

TL;DR: Awesomenauts is unique, and fast. It's a 2d side scrolling brawl game supports up to 3 people on either team. New or returning players are heavily punished for not spending time in the game. Matchmaking, majority of the time is terrible, and no dedicated servers. Unbalanced match making, making it unfair for new and returning players to play. Unbalanced characters. A single target damage dealer does effectively 2x-3x less damage than A AOE target damage dealer

Overall the game is very fun and enjoyable. There are a lot of issues, and overall the development of new features is stale, with the exception of new characters, balancing, and one or two map / changes every 1.5 years. The game has a lot of issues that might prevent a single player from deriving consistent fun from it, but it has a lot of potential.

The game:

The matches are in a 3v3 configuration. You can play bot matches, or just offline with your friends. Split screen is supported.
There are several characters to chose from with varying abilities. Most characters have overlap in their abilities (lifesteal, healing, trap, poison, etc...) Every map is distinct, and favor certain play styles over others. In normal mode the objective is to destroy the solar structure in the opponent's base. To do so you have to destroy turrets to create a path. You have buzz saw droids that spawn to help you in this task. Solar is the currency that you use to purchase upgrades. You get solar every second, as well as getting kills, destroying droids / creeps (drop hp) and destroying turrets.

There are custom modes that don't count towards rank. These are great for having fun with friends. You can have deathmatch with a lot of configurable options.

If you want some cosmetic customization, you can also buy skins, that vary from a few cents to > $5.

The issues:

A lot of the problems arise from a bad matchmaking situation. You are supposed to get matched with players your skill level, but the developers allow you to join a match with people that are far better (or worse) and more coordinated than you if it takes too long. The ladder is composed of leagues (brackets) and ranks. One of the developers has mentioned they can't improve matchmaking because they don't have a large enough player base for it to be effective. In my personal opinion what it boils down to is they don't want to upset the players that have remained loyal. There aren't many players online <300 at any given time. So if the matchmaking was fair, it could take upwards of half hour to join a game.

Like many online games, there is the issue of verbally abusive players. These can be new players or very seasoned ones. There are a lot of trolls, but there is a simple mute button you can access on the score screen while in game. Not a terrible problem, but a lot of people are unaware they have the ability to mute.

Consensus:

Since the game is relatively cheap, I recommend it if (and only if) you have friends to play it with. The top players remain at the top because of the aforementioned bad matchmaking. These are players that have over 2000 hours in the game, and only play what is called 'premade' games against other players. The matchmaking puts them against opponents that are new to the game, and most of the time are random people playing together. So the current system reinforces keeping unified players up top while discouraging new players from trying to play alone.

The developers have other projects and the consensus between a lot of players i've spoken with seems to be that the game is pretty much abandoned, and they only keep it alive as a sense of loyalty to the original players. Don't get me wrong, there is still a very vibrant community of players in the game, that continuously donate their time to improve bot AI, and offer suggestions for other improvements. So I still recommend the game. You are sure to meet some of the coolest players while in game, and that alone is worth it.

Whenever you want to dive into a quick battle, you can. This game is pretty fun, Fast paced action MOBA with platformer components (not so much) running on 2D. Pretty fun and different. I am not a fun of moba games (although they do kind of intrigue me). The only issue I have with this game is the DLC. 200 euros worth of DLC. If it was more on a normal base I would not mind buy an extra character or something. But at this price tag, I refuse to give them anything besides base game cost. Besides that, enjoyable game

Fun and interesting take on the moba style game. This game features a colorful cast of charecters that are all unique and play diffrently. The DLC starstorm, is an amazing value, giving you tons of new content (heroes)! Since this game is a couple of years old, the playerbase seems to be very good. Would recomend if you're willing to put in the time to learn the charecters.

A good game that's worth owning atm best played with friends because the Queue system is currently less than perfect. But that's only really an issue for high level gameplay. It's a unique upgrade system that involves purchasing abilities and then upgrades for them. There's also a Misc. Upgrade tab with hp regen etc.

Owned this game since release, and I've seen it go through many different iterations.

I can no longer recommend this game because the developers failed to deliver on multiple fronts:

- no dedicated servers, p2p matchmaking is TERRIBLE and the impacts of delay have always been horrid
- imbalanced matchmaking for higher ranks because of a dead playerbase - I was routinely in the top 300-500 players when I was active playing back in 2013, and it got to a point where, because I was solo queueing, I could not win games to save my life as they'd be against full rank 1 premades with voice comm.
- Starstorm expansion's features haven't been fully implemented, yet Ronimo had the gall to release another paid DLC for the game
- Oh, and the addition of the EXP system a few patches ago was the final nail in the coffin. Does nothing to help the snowballing problem this game has always had, in fact it makes it worse because now winning teams can snowball on two fronts - a solar lead (allows you to buy upgrades to your character's kit), AND an xp lead for additional stat increases

Somewhere along the way Ronimo forgot about delivering a quality game and attempted to cash in on what little they've managed to deliver. It's a shame because the art and character style of this game is fantastic. Hopefully one day I can recommend this game again.

The game is extremely fun to play. Gameplay is fast paced and brawling with your opponents in a 2d environment with a lot of different abilities extremely entertaining. It requires more skill to master the game mechanics than it seems. The graphics are great, voice cast and sound amazing, lore deep and funny. There is plenty of different heroes to choose from, you will stay occupied for a long time before you become proficient at all of them. The developers update the game all the time, they really try to meet the community's expectations and keep things fresh.

However, there are simply too many issues with awesomenauts to recommend it to a new player. Apart from the usual moba complaints (subjective issues like bad balancing, matchmaking, ranking formulas, toxicity of players, etc.) present here, which arent that big of a deal breakers to me, the game suffers because of peer to peer connection system. On top of a rather small active player base its a huge issue.

It's common to be constantly matched with players half way around the globe from you. 400 ping enemies is something you will see all the time playing this game. Not only cant you do much to prevent such players from joining your matches (region settings dont work at all, blocking a player on steam doesnt always work and is going away in a future patch it seems) but a lagging player have an upper hand when attacking you. You have to add his ping, so to speak, to all the stun, pull and knockback effects which will move you back to the place on the lagger's monitor during a fight while on your screen you are miles away from danger. The peer to peer connection system works in favour of high ping players which is really unfair to players with stable connection.

I play awesomenauts very often and enjoy it, but i have to tell, getting unfair matches most of the time is so frustrating i dont see how new players could enjoy the game now. Moba/2d-platformer mix works so great that it is strange there arent any more mobas like awesomenauts nowadays.

This game is really good, i recommend buying it and dowloading the beta that will come within, because the beta is going to implement a whole new matchmaking system and interface! The matchmaking system is one of the only cons of this game, and i'll list the pros below:
- Good OST, Characters, Stage, Graphics and Animations.
- The whole game besides matchmaking system and fanbase.

This 2D MOBA is a hit/miss type of game. I have found that players love it and kick the booty or they hate it and stink. I have yet to find someone that doesn't fall into one of those categorys. It's plays like anyother moba. Whether you like mobas or not, this game is fun to try and bot matches are quite the easy time killer.

Pretty good game.
Pros: Plentyful characters. Each character has own backstory, design, attacks, and upgrades each with different effects. Does justice to 2d games. For MOBA pretty excellent.
Cons: not enough cats. Doesn't have an epic campaign mode.

DO NOT LET THE PLAYERS DICTATE YOUR DECISION ON PURCHASING/PLAYING THIS GAME! ALSO, THIS IS, AT ITS CORE, A PVP GAME! WHICH IS ONE OF THE BEST OF ITS KIND ON STEAM IN MY OPINION! ITS PRIMARY FLAW IS LACK OF PLAYERS. PLEASE PLAY!! EACH NEW PLAYER IMPROVES THE GAME!

Disclaimers.

In truth, this game is incredibly, addictingly fun. A very well thought out game. The develop team works very hard to maintain a balance in the game (Even though sajd team gets heckled way too much by its community). The visuals are bright, poppy, nostaligic, and fun. If you are around my age (29), then you remember the Saturday morning cartoons we watched while growing up --the chatacters really resemble that. The concept and execution of the game is also impressive. There are too many PvP games on the market, so much so, its confusing and annoying. AWESOMENAUTS remains to be unique among them all --freshness exudes from this title (If you have never played - PLAY!). Now: Once you break through the game's lucid learning curve, combat and manuevering opens up in a new way. Your emotions become involved. Patience is the essence of Awesomenauts. This can be a curse and a boon for all players. The frustration - the desire to win - keeps you playing, however, you feel a distinct anger dyring the interaction (Depending on how deep you get into the game/how well your team is doing).

PVP: Player versus Player.

PVP is actually a young concept in the video game society, which has recently (Past 5 years), become prominent in online mutliplayer gaming. Long story short, the FPS (First Person Shooter) genre was dominated by the likes of Counterstrike, Call of Duty, Gears of War, Halo, etc. which brought upon a staple in online gaming.

Awesomenauts is special because of the balanced utiliazation of its pletora of characters through the PvP gaming concept. Coupled with the nostaligic majesty of its side scrolling, old school, you ain't a woman/man till you done played this s%!t demanor, it's a "worth it" buy.

I won't lie to you, the game is desperate for more players, and as a gamer, I too share that sentiment. But this game deserves that privilege, because of its constant updates (to make the game balanced), addition of characters (Yes, you have to buy the DLC, which is lame, but most of you have paid 60 bucks for a game), Replayability (No, that isn't a word, but this game has it. Gravity wasn't a word/thing/concept at one point), the bittnerness from opposition when your team is domination, and the nostalgia you recieve from prowling though a 2D, side scrolling environment (Makes me think of Mega-man when I was a kid).

The learning curve isn't very large. In fact, all characters there are available to play have abilities that are easy to understand and wurks, thus you can figure your role quickly. The way I see this game is a turret defense MOBA (Which is probably what the develpers categorized its as). It's a 3 v 3 battle. The object is to destroy the opoosing turrets to break through to the base. when your team destroys the base, the game is won.

Seriously, if you have a fetish for 90s culture, or even remembered the culture fondly, pick the game up.
If you love multiplayer --competitive game play, pick it up
Think you have what it takes to beat me? Pick it up.

This game comes with no gimmicks. Beyond its expansions, you get what you pay for --that is how it sounds.

Long story short - Get the Game

-You will be assimilated
