About This Game

The Bridge is a 2D logic puzzle game that forces you to reevaluate your preconceptions of physics and perspective. It is Isaac Newton meets M. C. Escher. Manipulate gravity to redefine the ceiling as the floor while venturing through impossible architectures. Explore increasingly difficult worlds, each uniquely detailed and designed to leave you with a pronounced sense of intellectual accomplishment. The Bridge exemplifies games as an art form, with beautifully hand-drawn art in the style of a black-and-white lithograph.

Key Features

  • 48 thought-provoking puzzles, each unique from the rest, all requiring an innovative solution.
  • Gravity manipulations, gravitational vortexes, parallel dimensions, and many more mind-bending concepts in a world where the laws of physics are not what they seem.
  • M. C. Escher-esque worlds with impossible architecture set in the style of beautifully hand-drawn black-and-white lithographic art.
  • An alternate version of the game unlocked after the main storyline has been completed, including challenging alternate versions of each of the 24 main puzzles, along with an alternate ending.
  • A time-backtracking system to alleviate any fears of making a mistake.

The Bridge was a real problem to review. This game is not only covered with beautiful artwork but also with brilliant level design. With every new level the gap of possibilities to solve the puzzles shrinks. I didn’t get the story that much which was a downer for me and the game is a bit short but if you like solving a puzzle now and then this is a game for you. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy the game I only wish there was more of it. I will remember some levels for a while but the problem is that that’s the only thing I will remember so I will have to say The Bridge is a 6/10.

Some people thinks this a Braid's copy. It is, many of the elements are copied from Braid. Like the artstyle and the rewinding mechanic.
But even though it's not really original, it's a good game on it's own right. The puzzles in this game are very clever and satisfying. And the mechanics itself is very interesting to explore.

TL;DR
Good, especially considering it's cheap price,

One of the most beautifully artistic games I've played in a while. The environment and character design are simple yet thoughtful. The gameplay is solid and unique,. The puzzles are genuinely challenging while not hair-tearingly difficult. My only complaint is that it's somewhat lacking in story.

The Bridge is to puzzle games what Super Meat Boy is to platformers. It is brutally hard, unforgiving, but, at the same time, completely fair. Interested in reading more? Check out the full review here:

I was expected a game about architecture. If you've played And Yet It Moved, this game is very similar.

A poor man's Braid. A great puzzler in it's own right, but not story and not quite as much charm as other indies. Still get's a thumbs up!

I would give this game a 6.5/10. It has a really good art style and it is clever. However, I didn't find myself having a lot of fun with it. The art and unique-ness were the redeeming qualities, in my opinion.

Boring. Unhandy controls. And very very long process just because of very slow character movement.

greyscale, nice art, interesting environment...

I would only get this game if it were on sale. This is a puzzle game, not an action game. I also found that none of the elements included in this game were explained? When I was doing my first playthrough I had to look at guides come Chapter 4 because nothing was explained in enough detail?

This game is 2D, but it uses gravity and different weird dimensions to make a puzzle game. I enjoyed this game as a whole, but I would have preferred more instruction come to the later levels, as well as less "sensitive" solutions so that doing the solution correctly on the 2nd last puzzle of the game doesn't take an hour to work by chance.

Just my 2cents: there are better games, but this one has an interesting concept.

Interesting concept, great art, entrancing music. You alter gravity to walk around impossible MC Escher-type structures. However, the puzzles are just too annoying. Some of the mechanics of swapping from foreground to background of structures doesn't work as you intend, so I had to resort to a lot of random walking and switching and more switching rather than just reasoning it out, which I don't find quite as fun. I ended up quitting it and haven't picked it up again and don't intend to until my rage subsides.

After putting about an hour and a half into this game, I hit a stand still. The first few areas were far too easy. I wanted to love this game forever, but it didn't feel like it presented much challenge. I wasn't compelled by the mechanics or the story to go on. Eventually I'll revisit it and have a different view but for now I can only see it collecting dust on the shelf.

Yup, just another bland indie puzzle game with "unique" aesthetics that will consume about an hour or two of your time. I got it for a dollar or two and even that was too high a price for this game. Just nah imho.

Interesting art and level design choice but the extremely slow downtime when going in a level or the backtracking gets really annoying.

The rewind is absolutely useless. In most cases you're better off with a full reset since the chance that you screwed up the puzzle from the beginning are pretty high.

Sure the slowness ties well with the mood of the game... but after the 5 first levels, you have to ask yourself; do you really want to waste that time watching the same intro over and over again?

I'd rather spend that time trying a different combination on the puzzle.

Not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems like it very much wants to be Braid, and it's simply not good of a game, in either gameplay or experience. The game's biggest weakeness is that the normal game is too simple, but what seems like the "real" game, the mirror levels, is far too difficult. The normal games puzzles are fairly easy to figure out without too much difficult, but rarely feel as rewarding as a great puzzle game often does when solving a particularly good one. The mirror levels introduce such a level of execution difficulty that even when the solution is known, the execution level required makes the game very difficult. Not a good endorsement of a puzzle game, in my mind.

In the end, despite completing all the normal levels and multiple mirror levels, I simply can't say this game gave me the puzzles or the satisfaction I was looking for, even when it was challenging. Some great art and ideas, but the execution is lacking, and the cohesive whole is good, but never great. If you love puzzle games, pick this up on sale, and you'll find some good there...but if you're on the fence, make sure you don't expect this to be another Braid, and go in with your expectation set accordingly.

Do not buy this game. Music and puzzles are boring, repetitive and uninspired. The story is non-existant, and the ending is anticlimactic. If Braid is Jaws movie, then The Bridge is Jaws 2. Look it up on IMDB if you don't get it. Seriously, after playing Braid this feels like a bland clone.

Almost everything about this game is way too slow. You walk slowly, fall slowly, rotate the world slowly, and load every single puzzle slowly. The only thing quick about this game is how long it takes you to realize that you want to delete it from your computer and never open it again.
