First third person shooter I've played with a story I really care about. Several slightly philosophical overtones woven into the story and good controls with very fun destruction of robots. The robot destruction is probably my favourite feature - blow the legs off and it crawls towards you still shooting, destroy the arms and it runs towards you with a flying kick to the face, but the best is trying to take out the head without destroying it and watching it turn on its allies. You can also decide how the team splits up and improve (or ruin) your relationships with teammates to arrive at different endings. Now where's my sequel...

Really good game with a very good scifi robot / android story, considering its low price its a great buy. I have more positive feelings on this game than negative for sure. Not sure what else to say other than this game is now one of my favorites for sure.

Binary Domain is a formulaic sci-fi squad-based cover shooter where you fight robots in Japan. The story is cliche and the characters are flat and yet it's still fun to play. Mindless fun, but sometimes, that's what you want.

What I Loved:
♥ Big Bo

What I Liked:
+ The shooting mechanics
+ The story
+ Enemy design
+ Looks good for an old game.

What I Disliked:

- Dialogue

Ranges from really bad to hilariously bad.

- Trust system

Pretty much just blindly agreeing with whatever your teamate says. Dan doesn't really speak
outside cutscenes. And you only give one word responses making conversations feel incredibly artificial.

- No one playing multiplayer?

Can't find a single game. Is multiplayer in this game dead?

Overall its a fun game. Get it when its cheap.

A very nice game. Very good and interesting story and gameplay, even if it might be a little bit difficult to understand.
I advise playing without vioce recognition.

A GAME THAT IS WORTH YOUR TIME!

Pros:
-Great graphics and gameplay
-good shooting mechanics - you can destroy the robots arms/legs/head and if you destroy only its head, the robot will fight for you
-nice story and voice acting, sometimes funny
-huge bosses
-a lot of action
-interesting team-relationship system which can trigger some cutscenes.
Cons:
-Controls can feel iffy, especially the running.
-The bosses can take a few too many bullets and can sometimes kill you with one unavoidable shot (luckily you can revive if you have a med kit or one of your team-mates has)
-The upgrade system isn't satisfying, just a bunch of stats upgrades like rate of fire, damage, accuracy etc.
-Multiplayer is dead.

All in all, I highly recommend this game, it's a 9 hour campaing filled with action, humour and over-the-top scenes.

This game is tagged as Co-Op, I intended to play it for its Co-Op mode and was disappointed to find that the only mode involving two or more players is a horde-type defense game mode or versus.

I went into this game with fairly low expectations, thinking it was just going to be a middle of the road shooter with meh story. For the first half hour to and hour that's that I got, but after that the game took off and turned out to be quite the diamond in the rough.

The combat is your standard run and cover style where you're equipped with your primary assault rifle, a secondary (shot gun, sniper, etc.), pistol, and grenade type. This in it self isn't that great, but when you take into consideration you can dismantle enemies it becomes more interesting. If you shoot off their legs they crawl at you, blow off their arms they run in an kick you, snipe their head they become "friendly" since they don't know who their shooting at anymore. This mechanic saves the meh combat system as you can do some interesting things with it. The boss battles are pretty bad though, often one-shoting you as your teammate just run around yelling at you and telling you where ammo is. The controlls are also a bit wonky, like middle mouse button reload, but it's not that bad once you understand it. But in all honesty you shouldn't buy this game for the combat, you should buy it for the story and characters.

Throughout the game you get introduced to more and more characters you can take with you in your squad during the chapters. You build, or lose, trust with them and can get several different endings to the game depending on this trust level. Nearly all of them are memorable, are well thought out, and amazingly voiced. The over all story had some good unforeseen plot twists as well, making me think it was over about three times before pulling another one out to keep the game going. This is defiantly what you should get the game for.

There is also the unique mechanic of voice recognition. Yep, you can talk to your NPC teammates. This is how you build that trust with your squad during battle and the interactive cut scenes. Did they get a sweet headshot? Praise them with a "Nice!" or "Sweet!". Are they too far ahead? tell them to "Regroup." Do you want to confess you undying love for Big Bo? tell him "Love You" of "Looking Pretty Sweet". That being said it can also backfire. I'm not sure if it was something in my set up, but it kept getting my voice lines wrong or not registering them all together. I'd try and tell my team to charge and someone thought I called them an "Idiot" and just yelled at me and stopped following orders. I'm a streamer though so the audience, and I found it hilarious, this might be annoying for you.

Over all this is a really good game, a truly overlooked gem.

Great game.

The weapon variety is okay, there's enough variation among the enemies to keep you entertained and there are a few challenges beyond just duck and cover shooting.

Good voice acting, characters are likeable and well written, funny dialogue and interesting story with a few twists here and there. All in all much better than one would expect from a game that sold so poorly.

Singleplayer lasts about 10 hours.

The very definition of a hidden gem.

Not sure who the director is either, but this was easily in the top 5 best directed games I've ever played.

Binary Domain is a third-person shooter developed and published by Sega.
The story starts soon after an android attacked Bergen's headquarters, previously having no idea that he was a robot himself. Believing that robotics genius and founder of Amada corporation, Yoji Amada, created the robot, the International Robotics Technology Association (IRTA) sent one of their Rust Crews to Japan to find Amada and bring him in for questioning under orders from the UN Security Council.
The gameplay is really fun to play. The player can issue commands to squad mates by pressing certain buttons or voice, via a headset. You can turn off the voice commands.
The game features a consequence system, which decides how the squad views and trusts the player. Their opinion of the player is based on how the player performs and treats team members. This affects both the story and the gameplay, where the characters behave differently depending on trust levels. Conversations between the player and the squad members can also affect trust levels. The end of the game will change, depending on the level of trust the team members have in the player.
Stats of both the player and the squad members can be augmented with nanomachines, as well as weapon upgrades, that can usually be bought at shops that the player can find throughout the game.
The enemy AIs adjust themselves on how to fight back against the player's advance, depending on the situation. On the other hand, the squad AIs is pretty bad sometimes, walking in front of the player while firing.
This is an overlooked title, I highly encourage anyone to at least try the demo.

Decent shooter with immersive storyline of nationalities struggling against machines. Visuals were average but the soundtracks gave it justice. Great port from consoles with bearable minor issues. Definitely treated as hidden gem.

pros

+- ok voice acting.
+- graphics arent bad but not the best.
+ robots design is amazing.
+ hit mechanics is great. shoot legs to slow it. shoot head to blind it.
+ what wins the cake is the story. just amazing.

cons

-menu have no mouse. is this a new trend in pc port games ??
-press and hold m !!! really now, m stands for ( middle mouse button).
-press (f) for action, but some times i have to press (space). and pick up ammo with (f). ok its not heart surgery but why make it this complix?
-i dont know how to change keybord controles.

ps -i didnt try the voice command feature.
-sholder camera is too close and movement is hard, but as in most of 3ed person shooter games.
-i dont care about multiplayer, so if you do, go read another review.

Would buy even if it wasn't on sale.
+ great voice acting
+ great story
+ uniek voice communication (in offline mode!)
+ hot sniper chick
10/10 would play again to change the story line. Cuz i always chose Faye (hot chick) as my teammate.

Multiplayer is dead. But who needs multiplayer when you have work to do. Fighting robots of all sizes and strength. (with Faye)

Buy now! Totally worth the money.

Beautiful story, really enjoyable.
The gameplay is quite easy, very linear but fun.
Mass effect style (cover system, companions, upgrades) with some not relevant choices.
Really worth to play.

Overview: Third Person Shooter

The Good:

+ Great graphics without needing high specs. Game seems to be optimized fairly well (post patches)

+ A surprisingly decent story that offers a lot of interesting characters.

+ The shooting mechanics are fantastic. Shooting robots causes bits and pieces to fly everywhere, shooting robots in different body parts effects movement, aiming, shooting a robot's head off allows the robot to fight for you etc. All of this leads to a very satisfying feeling of killing enemies.

+ Killing enemies rewards you with money which is used to buy/upgrade perks and weapon upgrades for you and your teammates.

+ Within every chapter you can select up to one or two teammates. Depending on who you choose changes the dialogue in certain parts. There is also a 'trust' system, say the right things and perform well in combat and you will build trust among team mates. Higher trust means they are more likely to follow orders in combat in addition to changing the outcome at the end of the game. The trust system doesn't drastically change the game and I would have liked it put to better use but its always nice to see new gameplay mechanics.

+ The game does a great job with pacing. You never feel bored and the game constantly changes things up so every battle feels fresh and unique.

+ The story is sparingly good, presenting a moral and ethical dilemma and gives you something to think about.

+ Cain, a robot with a French accent.

+ Soundtrack

The Average:

On a technical level the game could use a bit more polish. Lowering the sound does nothing for cinematics, you can only change graphics, sound, controller outside of the game.

Certain bosses feel like bullet sponges, especially at the higher difficulties.

The Bad:

- Multiplayer is dead making it impossible to collect achievements.

Conclusion:

This is one of the better third person shooters that came out of the PS3/360 generation. Sadly, due to timing and bad marketing the game never really found the success it deserved. Overall This is a great third person shooter that needs a sequel.
