About the Game

Do you have what it takes to train like a U.S. Army Soldier?

America’s Army: Proving Grounds is the official game of the U.S. Army and part of the highly acclaimed America’s Army game series. This free military game focuses on small unit tactical maneuvers and puts you to the test in new America’s Army maps as well as AA fan favorites Hospital and Bridge.

Take on the role of an 11B Infantryman practicing combat maneuvers at JTC Griffin, a fabricated training MOUT (military operations on urban terrain) environment. This training is crucial to your success as part of a Long Range Combined Arms – Recon (LRCA-R) unit, a full spectrum capable team that embarks on special operations missions behind enemy lines.

Key Features

  • Two Game Modes
Experience fast-paced Battledrill Exercises (BDX) (6v6) that focus on small unit maneuvers. As you learn how the enemy might react, adjust your strategy for future engagements
Forward Line Operations (FLO) (12v12) test your skills in a larger environment
Hardcore mode has increased weapon damage and a reduced HUD

  • 5 Mission Types
Activate - Activate all the objectives
Extract - Extract the objective to the rally point
C4 - Plant the C4 at one of the bomb sites and defend it until it explodes
Destroy - Arm the objective and defend it until it detonates
Take and Hold - Activate all the objectives and prevent the enemy from activating objectives you control

  • You are a U.S. Army Soldier
Weapons - M4A1 Assault Rifle, M16A4 Assault Rifle, M249 Saw, M14EBR-RI, M24 Sniper Weapon System, Remington 870 MCS, and M9A1 Pistol

Optics - M68 Close Combat Optic, M553 Holographic Weapon Sight, M150 ACOG 4x Optic, Elcan M145, Leupold Mk4 and Ghost Ring Sight
Supported Fire allows you to rest your weapon on obstacles to reduce recoil
Bullets do instant and bleed damage, bandage yourself to stop the bleeding

  • Teamwork is Critical
Spotting enemies gives your teammates greater situational awareness
Reviving your down buddies gets them back in the fight
Securing enemies prevents them from being revived and communicating with their team
Report your location and status to your team
Suppression affects your enemy even if you don’t hit them. Use the M249 to control firing lanes and keep the enemy’s head down while your team flanks their position

  • Train in Shoot Houses
Shoot Houses give you a place to learn how to use all the weapons in a single-player environment. They are fast-paced exercises that allow you to compete for the highest score
Create your own shoot houses in the Mission Editor

Mission Editor

Create your own missions and shoot houses with the AA:PG Mission Editor
Share them on the Steam Workshop
View the Tutorial at http://aapg.americasarmy.com/editor/tutorial
As your skills with the Mission Editor increase, you can move to the Advanced Editor
*The Mission Editor and Advanced Editor are developer tools that require more advanced hardware than what is required to run the game. Performance may vary.

This has to be the best Free Military FPS on Steam without a doubt, recommend this to anyone who likes shooters. Although this is more tactical than most and teamwork is definitely required to complete objectives.

Love the combat, love the maps and even the graphics are pretty decent for a free game.

10/10 from me just for the cardboard cars and fish alone.

On a serious note, this game is awesome. You won't get better teamwork or coordination, and the community is friendly(mostly). This game is worth playing and hey!it free you won't lose anything!!The gameplay mechanic requires strategic thinking and constant teamwork, memorizing the map can do wonders for you!!GET THIS GAME NOW!!

The only complain I have is the constant bugs that may or may not affect your gaming.

After the game update the game is AWSOME!

Pros:
- Good graphics. Not the best but good.
- Team Work using voice chat and awsome community that wants to help you
- Super realistic game. Exept for the fact that they're using tracer ammo.
- Its not pay to win! Get the full game! No other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ items or boosters.

Cons:
- The game is a bit laggy even on Hi-Specs PCs.
- Get good at it or die tryin'. You die very fast and you have to respawn in 2-3 minutes, if you don't listen to your team mates or your not paying attention.

Conclusion:

- Worths every cent! JK. But is a nice addition of Hardcore Realistic Tactical Team Based Games.

Hello! Check out my profile for more helpful reviews!

Alright, I'm gonna sum it up plain and simple. This is like Battlefield multiplayer with strange graphics and few servers. If you like Battlefield, there's actually a small chance you'd like this game. You may as well slap a big old paper on the army's butt that says "kick me".

The gameplay is just your average bomb-plant-and-defuse/attack&defense type of gamemode, with multiple sites to plant. Problem is, you get alot of lag, and, if I may, and your team, most of the time when you start out, shoots you (friendly fire) for fun if you ask for instructions on the map. The map is large, widespread, and almost impossible to memorize. The recoil makes it literally impossible to shoot, and the sights may as well be crap in the toilet.

One of the saddest things are that when you play the game, you think, "Wow, this is terrible lag, with a terrible engine, made by a terrible computer!" Well, now you notice the US Army made this game. And they have robots. And missle radars. And tanks. And large programming facilities. And hundreds of super computers. Why couldn't they make the game a bit more... Well... I don't know... GOOD?

Here are the things I like about this game: Your objective is simple, and your huge map is playable (almost, but playable), using a sniper rifle is easy, and you're able to revive allies, giving you a much more complex authority amoung your team.

But, though I'm sorry to say it, all in all, I give this "fun" game a 4/10, which makes me sick to put down on an FPS, for those are some of my favorite gametypes. I'm sorry to those of you (thousands of players) who like this game, but I really dislike it, and have to give my honest opinion. Thanks for reading this.

Guns: Check
Enemies: Check
Hackers: Check

I would say it's a fun game, suprisingly good graphics being that it is a free game.

As close to free CoD as you can get, except this game is actually good.

A fun game. Its more of a mil sim. I like it more then AA3 because its gameplay feels more like AA2.0 You can download old maps from AA2 like weapons cache and bridge. The players in the game are mature and use call outs with the in game voice chat. Try it out. Its free.

The sucessor to Americas Army 3, AA:PG is a pretty great shooter considering it's free. You won't find other F2P shooters out there with this level of detail and unique gameplay. And without any form of payment system, you won't find yourself spending money on this game. So say goodbye to pay-to-win.

I was disappointed though as this game was a huge step-down from AA3 in both gameplay and tacticas. AA:PG feels very watered down and COD-ish. Although it is still a fun game to play, it doesn't provide that deep sense of tactics and teamwork that AA3 provided.

A hollow shell of what AA2 had to offer. Slight improvements to movement and visuals do not justify scrapping almost all of the gameplay depth.

I'll be honest. The main reason I'm not recommending this is because of the community. this game has one of the worst communities I've ever seen. if you disagree with them or even if you're slightly worse at the game than most of them, they get really ♥♥♥♥y and defensive. I played a few games on this, and every time I died there was an endless line of the entire freaking server talking about how bad I was at the game. Yeah, I'm not great at the game. But the thing is this: everyone has to start somewhere. no one is great at a game from the second they turn it on. expecting everyone to be great at it so quickly is like expecting a random stranger to give you $100 for the fun of it.

I used to play the America's Army games a lot. They were really enjoyable at some point. while the core resources of the game are good, it's let down by an awful community and plenty of the (admittedly, expected) army recruiting jargon.

Realistic game, mostly to train skills for the army.
Have met really friendly people in this game, with really minor toxic people.
Like the fact of nightvision, bleeding out etc.
