So I just finished Star Trek! Overall? Mostly positive but I can see why people have critism.

This game takes place between the first and the second movie, bridging the vents between the two. I loved that this game payed homage and nods towards TOS by updating the Gorn and giving them a modern spin. The game plays in a similair fashion to Gears of War (pseudo shoulder shooter) and I thought the Tricorder mechanic was one of the most inspired parts of the game. The voice acting is PHENOMINAL (having the actors themselves lend their voices) and the sound track (again from the movies) swelling in the background was a beautiful touch that didn't go unoticed. The story was great and the shooting was good!

I can absolutely see why this game recieved the critism and negativity that it did. It just seems to fall apart every now again. It goes from having these beautiful graphics with impressive shaders to looking like a dogs breakfast. There were also frequent graphical glitches, sometimes clunky mechanics (including some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ platforming) and the most awful lip syncing I have ever seen. Again this seems to come and go so it may just be that the game breaks occassionally. It sort of strikes me as a title that ran out of budget at the last alpha build...patched together. Look at the stealth mechanics and you will see what I mean. I can see where they were going with it...they just never finished it.

Overall this isn't a bad game and has a decent story attached to it. I eeked out 13 hours which is typical of this kind of game and your replay value is based on collection of achievements. Overall not great. But certainly not bad! With some more money and time, this game could have been something spectacular!

It´s better then most reviews says, especially if you play in COOP. As i understand it was broken on steam on release but it has been patched now.

It has quite a few minor glitches and the AI in the game isn´t the best, but as a COOP game it still works and there is some funny moments and a lot of stuff to collect during gameplay.

On PC you would want a few more options in the settings, like AA, AF and FOV-settings for example, it´s a bit silly to not include those this day and age, but still it runs at 120Hz with V-sync on if you have a 120Hz monitor - that´s something :)

Even for all its shortcommings, if you are a fan of Star trek and have a friend to play with i´d recomend it if you realize that there are some glitches. It´s still a rather fun game imo.

This game had a lot of potential, and I was pretty excited for a Star Trek game. Sadly, I found it quite lacking in many areas, and the most disappointing thing was this game could have been so much better. While the in-game characters do have a good resemblance of who they are supposed to be, this may be just about the only good thing of the graphics in this game - while graphics do not make or break a game, this game does not look like a 2013 release. The animations don't look good, especially the moving and when you need to do something with your partner like "pry open doors".

The "stealth" and shooting is nothing special for a third-person shooter, just different in the form of Star Trek weapons - I guess the alternate fire is somewhat interesting... The minigames including hacking, and bypassing are stale and boring, and the linear level design make the game a chore to play through. Figuring out what needed to be done was more frustrating than fun, and after succeeding, I only felt like "phew, now I can move on". Except that half the time, I couldn't! Game breaking bugs, especially in single player where your partner gets stuck or can't move, or the objective itself is bugged, forcing your to restart the checkpoint if you're lucky, or the entire chapter if you're not. The jumping mechanics and the collision detection are also pretty poor and quite frustrating.

The plot was nothing special, and I find myself playing through it for the sake of completion rather than a desire to know what happens next, as good games will do to me. The game is slow, long, and tedious... not fun and enjoyable. Not even sure whether the co-op would make this game any more worthwhile...

Will be uninstalling as soon as I finish enough of the achievements that I can be bothered getting. Would not recommend buying.

I love this game! I am a massive online co-op campaign player, and this one is a must have for people like me.Yes, the graphics are not outstanding and there are some glitches here and there (which are funny) and some frustrating places, but overall it's fun as heck and totally worth the 4 dollars spent on it (sale). If you love the movies, funny Kirk quotes and humor from the crew who make fun of Spock, then you will love this. I know there's a lot of negative feedback, but don't judge this game based on those. If you can get your hands on this for cheap like I did, then I highly reccomend giving this game a shot.

If you play games for gameplay mechanics, then you will probably not enjoy this title. It's a mediocre third-person cover shooter with a lot of room for polish. Upgrades can be done on Kirk's and Spock's tricorders and basic phasers. The XP for these upgrades can only be obtained by finding collectibles with the tricorder or performing optional mission objectives. No XP is given for defeating enemies or completing missions. If you are not a collectible hunter, you will probably be annoyed with this mechanic. Ultimately, though, the upgrades didn't seem all that useful (at least on the lowest difficulty setting) and could probably be skipped entirely.

If you play games for the storytelling and enjoyed the Star Trek reboot movies, then you might enjoy this title. The voice acting is done very well in my opinion, and I thought that the dialog was mostly good. The game's characters are voiced by their respective film actors.

I went into this title expecting it to be the worst game of all time. I was expecting to play it for an hour just to laugh at how bad it was before rage-quitting. However, I was also hoping that the gameplay was just bearable enough for me to be able to get through the story.

My low expectations may have tempered my opinion, but I felt that this game wasn't bad. I did laugh at the awkwardness of some of the gameplay, but I was never hindered by anything while playing on the lowest difficulty setting. The story didn't strike me as particularly bad either. I enjoyed it enough to play through it a second time in order to get the missing collectibles and play from the other character's perspective.

In my opinion, this game was worth the price that I'd paid for it during one of the 2013 holiday sales. It wasn't an amazing game, but it certainly wasn't as bad as I was expecting from all of the negative reviews that I'd read.
