Star Trek is a product clearly rushed, full of bugs, and plagued by serious shortcomings in terms of gameplay, level design and ideas. A tie-in film school "throws out that much selling the same", in short, covered only partially by the presence of the original voices of the film and a certain basic respect in dealing with themes and characters in the saga. A wasted opportunity, which we expected much more sincerely.

PRO

- Voices of the original film
- Some spectacular cutscene
- See Kirk or Spock run into walls is pretty funny

Against

- poor shooting mechanics
- I.A. indecent
- Chock full of obvious bugs
- Level design low

If you like the Star Trek movies, buy this for less than $10, play it with a friend, and don't take it too seriously.

The friendly AI is terrible and the game is full of minor bugs and glitches. Playing with a friend completely remedies the former and can make the latter often more humorous than annoying.

The game is surprisingly varied for what it is, the shooting is satisfying enough, the movie's voice cast turns in (mostly) decent performances, and it has enough "Star Trek-ness" to it to satisfy fans.

No on will ever accuse it of being a particularly good game, but find a friend, turn off your brain, treat it like a dumb summer movie and you'll get your money's worth.

You like Star Trek?
Seen all episodes of all series, all movies?
You can play here a full night action episode with latest Spock and Kirk
( not a remake story, its new, stardate is between the movie star trek and into the darkness )

you can try with a friend, its ok in 2 players co-op,
gameplay is linear, dont expect anything too serious but few hours of Star Trek universe entertainment

This game is fantastic, it's an awesome experience in co-op [though less so in single player] and is a worthy addition to your library. Sadly it's recommended for all the wrong reasons. Only play this if you have a co-op partner who resembles you in being both a masochist and a lover of bad games. You will rant, you will laugh till your eyes sting and feel like they have been covered in salt, which is ironic as you will spend 50% of this game being very very salty.

Disappearing ai, pirouetting ai that walk past enemies unmolested as you get your ♥♥♥ kicked, sewer sludge colored enemies that blend in with the muddy uninspired textures in the game, bugs and more. This game has the full gamut of badly made game mechanics that should have you running in the opposite direction of this games store page yet still I would heartily recommend this game to you as a co-op experience par excellence but you really do need a sense of humor.as well as a desire to push yourself beyond the point where you just can't go on anymore. It is the Darksydephil of video games, it keeps screwing up and wants somebody else to take the blame.

I'd also like to take the time to thank my co-op partner on this galactic journey of ineptitude. Your elitism, saltiness and devotion to getting the achievement for completing every optional objective while playing on hard made the expereince. Thank you but you're still a @#&!

So i just finished it (about 10 hours solo, not co-op). It's not a bad game, quite fun actually, although still quite buggy - or i guess unfinished is more appropriate as it came out 2 years ago and i guess has been abandoned. Especially after just playing the new tomb raider! I mean wow the end result is like night and day between these two games! sadly i feel this star trek game may have just been a pay check for the developers, or maybe the tomb raider creators are just really really good at their job. maybe a mix of both :)

It does have some very redeeming qualities - voice acting, tricorder use and the storyline overall imo is fun and not convoluted (unlike the new movies!).

Using the tricorder to hack cameras and sentry turrets (using mini puzzle games), as well as the ability to sabotage enemy guns & grenades through upgrades) was great fun, and reminded me of system shock 2 / bioshock. No i'm not saying this game is like them! but like i said, using the tricorder imo was very fun, and broke up the pacing in a good way. Though most of it is really not necessary, which brings me to my next point.

I believe it is a game that requires you to play it the way the developers intended - and that is with a mix of puzzle solving/hacking and cover based shooting (think gears of war etc.). If you just play it like a gears game i dont think it would be anywhere near as enjoyable or rewarding.

So yes i enjoyed it overall - but the odd glitch here and there and very unpolished (or unsatisfying?) gun play, enemy AI and cover mechanics make it a tricky game to recommend. But hey if its on sale for half price, like under $10, then yeh i think its worth it. Just be prepared to be a little underwhelmed and frustrated at times becuase with maybe 6 more months in the oven, it could have been so much better.

ps - apologies for the crappy grammar, spelling etc!
