"Demigod was the first commercial MOBA. It's very easy to pick up and play and works great for LAN parties."

About This Game

The all father has vanished, creating an opening in the pantheon. To fill the void, Demigods from across from the mortal world must wage war against one another in a bid to ascend to true godhood.

Set in a magical world where gods walk among mortals, Demigod blends action, strategy and role-playing elements into a thrilling new experience. Select the Demigod that will lead your minions into battle and unleash the dogs of war against your rivals. Your Demigod will do whatever it takes in order to ascend to true godhood.

Once in the Arena, each Demigod will be joined by support troops that fight to the death as you struggle to seize key control points and slowly turn the tide of war in your favor. And your Demigod will level up during the course of each battle, becoming even more powerful as you unlock new abilities and powers. It's a brutal conflict of Demigod versus Demigod, where the very ground beneath their feet will tremble and quake.

Demigod is a real-time, tactical strategy game that includes extensive role-playing elements. Choose from several Demigods, each poised for battle with their own unique capabilities and awe-inspiring powers. Vanquish other would-be gods as you gain levels, increase in power, unlock the power of mystic artifacts and slowly battle your way closer to joining the Pantheon.

Key features:

Revolutionary strategy/action game that combines tactical prowess with role-playing depth.
  • Your Demigod is the focus of your power in the arena. Each of the 8 included Demigods has unique powers and abilities.
  • Like a role-playing game, players can purchase equipment for their Demigod, add new powers to their Demigod as it gains experience, acquire artifacts that remain persistent between games. Each Demigod plays differently enough that it provides a diverse gaming experience.
  • Like a strategy game, players have strategic objectives in each arena that, when captured, provide resources that give access to better units and some Demigods have the ability to summon their own minions that they can individually control. There are gold mines that can be captured to give more resources, artifact shops that, if captured, make their resources available to your team.
Battle in a persistent online world in multiplayer or play single player either in a skirmish or in the virtual tournament.
  • The on-line pantheon allows players to "skirmish" against other players of similar skill or take part in the on-line Pantheon tournament where players choose the path of light or darkness and earn favor points to help their faction win the tournament. Players can also play on the LAN or play custom games with friends on the Internet.
  • Players earn favor points through victory with different awards given for different achievements during the game. These favor points can be used to purchase special items that exist from game to game.
Increase your Demigod's powers and abilities by leveling up during each battle.
  • In each game, your Demigod will start at level 1. As you kill enemy grunts and Demigods and capture flags, you gain experience which will cause your Demigod to gain experience levels. When a new experience level is gained, the player can add new skills and abilities to their Demigod to make him or her more powerful.
Wage massive, earth-shattering battles across a series of awe-inspiring Arenas.
  • Demigod makes use of the same awesome technology as Supreme Commander. However, it has been greatly enhanced with Gas Powered Games' new "mesh" technology that allows the game to have incredible visuals even on older video cards. The arenas in Demigod are not your typical "maps". Instead, they have each been crafted as a full blown 3D model unto itself in which players battle on the surface of them.
Seize key, strategic positions on the map and turn the tide against your enemy. Push deep into their base and destroy them once and for all.
  • Key resources in an arena are controlled by capturing the flag associated to that resource. When a player controls that resource, the entire team benefits. Controlling flags also generates war points which are added to your team's war score. When enough war points are collected, new upgrades in the team's Citadel become available for purchase.

Demigods urge the internet! Demigod of the Supreme Commander-makers Gas Powered Games offers the multiplayer battlefields.
Eight classes are there from which you can choose to make a maximum of five teams on each side. There are two types of players are addressed: the classic strategy fan, the troops (healer, distance and melee) leads like in the battle, and more action savvy people who would rather focus on a figure.

Those who want to manage units accesses one of the four generals, who want to go it alone, is one of the four assassins snapped. All eight have their own special skills that you unlock by taking flags and blow opponents and defenses. However, one must first experiment a while to realize what skills can be combined sense. The "Torchbearer" (torch bearers) can handle both ice and fire. If you treading both paths because they both have great surface attacks, you have to constantly switch between two ice and fire attitudes and forth.

As a game chooses depends on the selected play mode. In the most played variant called Conquest, it is important to break down the enemy citadel. In other modes you need to kill most demigods, scrap the most defensive structure or accumulate the most points by flag revenue.

The flags are basically always important, because each of the many pennants on a map has a special feature. Flags, increase the damage values by 30 percent, are at least as important as those that increase the overall health of a fraction by 15 percent. Flags that determine the ownership of gold mines, one should also ignore any circumstances. Gold stuck in new armor, healing and mana potions and improvements to the citadel or the general defenses.

Demigod extends the principle of DotA useful, especially thanks to the generals. The heroes talents make various tactics, even if they are wobbly balanced. However, the template provides more classes, besides, I miss the Demigod cards critters. So be it, for the little gods I will duel's more to dig out of the box strategy.

Score: 81 / 100

I really wish Demigod was a free to play game with a better server and community, it's a fun MOBA except you will probably wait 1-2 hours before you can start a game that is 3v3. The community just isn't there because the servers are so weak, but the game is very fun.

For being marketed as "the first commercial MOBA" it's not half bad for being as half-♥♥♥♥♥ as it is. You're right, it is pretty dynamic, not as challenging to pick up as Dota, and gives you some basic flexibility with your auto-throwaway units, which you can upgrade (along with towers) at your citadel. Despite there being only ten heroes, there's more gameplay options with the "generals" (spawn your own minions) or "assassin" (nuker) hero class categories.

*sighs*

That said, the game received no patches or additional content post-release. Even at release, there were very, very few maps with no tutorial or story campaign. So, basically, you jump right in with NPC fights or buggy, laggy online games (which, as you might imagine, do not exist) with the same limited map pool. While the game had the capacity for mod content, it's not like the Steak Workshop or Creator Kit was around when this came out, so there is no amateur content either to be found either unless you want some very basic UI tweaks.

I think, probably, the most aggravating part of this game is that what few maps there are don't really allow for progress like Dota does with one map. It's like Unreal Tournament (2004), if you create a game with just AI players, you can stay at your base for five hours if you wanted to, come back, everything is exactly how it was when you left it. Heroes do not have as significant presence/impact without reaching the maximum level. The gameplay is just...bland. There's no hiding, very limited potential for ganking, no terrain advantages/disadvantages, hidden items...No meaningful progress happens on the map without steamrolling with sheer numbers and, even then, that progress is easily reversed back to a stalemate automatically by creeps in no time flat. Die, kill me, anything. Games HAVE to end at some point.

Whereas some really good older titles were given new patches and content by their publishers to bring them back to being contenders with Steam re-releases, this was an already mediocre game that did not get that attention.

This is just the absolute embodiment of lost potential.

I REALLY wish i could tell you that Demigod is a great game, but the game was doomed since it's launch.

To explain things, Demigod has some unique characters that are fun to play, and the game offers some strategy mechanics to players who are more comfortable with RTS games than MOBAs, i could easily tell you that this is the easiest moba out here, and that Demigod is a curious blend of all these mechanics in an epic warhammer-esque way.

THIS IS WHERE THE ♥♥♥♥ HITS THE FAN

The game has got NO UPDATES SINCE RELEASE, meaning it's incredibly buggy and unbalanced at some point (assasin demigods are WAY more powerful than their general counterpart). Also a few years back (around it's release) pirates hacked the server service for the game, stardock, said pirates had acess to all the user's information, some of which includes credit card data. Gas powered and Stardock didn't do ♥♥♥♥ about it and decided to abandon the game.

In other words: no online multiplayer unless you use third party software, and usually people who use these on demigod are hacking.

This game would've got an easy 8/10 if it wasn't for the developpers losing interest in the game, this could've been a competitor to league of legends, but then again they used an extremely old internet service for their game (stardock was already known to suck, the reason why they were chosen is because of budgetary reasons).

And no, the single player mode doesn't save this game: no campaign, no backstory, nada. Single player is basically a "play against AI" mode, in which the AI is absolutely horrible and will get easily destroyed by anyone who auto-attacks them.

this gets a 3/10 for me, i really hate to say this, but you ♥♥♥♥ed up Gas Powered.

I love this game. I eternally love, love.. LOVE this game.

I can replay it over and over and over again, as if I'm searching for something new but never find it. Which brings me to why I hate this game. I hate this game so much for making me want more of this game.

Fantastic artwork, a storyline that you can pretty much sense just through some of the battle dialogue, the ability to constantly adjust the camera angles because I forget what game I'm playing and think that I'm strafing- instead, I disorient myself and forget where I am. I know that there are newer, updated games out there, and I know it had a rough start, but it's one of those simple games you can keep going back to with your friends or do some tournaments on your own and pretend that you have friends. (Clearly, I choose to do the latter.)

.. I really need friends. So I can buy them the 4-pack and make them pretend to be my pixelated friends.

(I love this game.)

Good moba game here. Not as difficult to pick up as Dota. The multiplayer suffers sometimes extreme lag due to coding issues. But a solid game either way.

One of the most underrated MOBA, this game is better than any LoL or DotA ripoff. It was actually released before those two and really pushed the MOBA genre. It's sad that it didn't get as many attention as it shoudlve had, leading to the an early abandonment of the game by the devs. I got to say though that even with only 10 heroes, this game feel fresh and very diversed. Needless to say that this is the best looking MOBA, even after all those years.

I'd recommend this game to anyone who want to take a little break from the big two (LoL and DotA2). It's worth the money!

Demigod is a really enjoyable game. Like real time RPG chess. You can find mods online, the one I recommend highly is a bug fix mod called "Uberfix", It's well worth the price of $9,99

I enjoy the game a lot. I will just play a match, usually on a big map and it's an enjoyable few hours. The only negative for me is that they haven't added anything new, there should be a DLC with new maps and Demigods but there isn't and probably never will be. Still if you get it on sale it's really cheap and good to take your mind off some 50 hour game for a bit.

Now here is a MOBA game that never got the credit it deserved. Demigod popped on my radar a few years back but when it launched there were several server issues that hindered the initial launch. I still praise this game because when the dust settled and the mud slinging stopped it turned out to be a pretty little gem.

Demigod borrows interesting ideas from RTS games and implements that into MOBA gameplay. Capturing points, upgrading troops, towers and buildings are just a few of these mechanics and I welcome them as a different way of looking at how MOBA games could add layers of gameplay. Unfortunately there was nothing else added to the game with the exception of two extra demigods. Each demigod is unique and you still level up, gain gold, upgrade skills and buy items.

I've had some incredible matches on Demigod when the community remained active and it is something I always go back to with a few friends for bot matches. The AI matches can get incredibly hectic on the higher difficulties with Demigod offering a variety of maps. You can pick up Demigod now for $10 but I've seen it for around $5 on the sales.

This game is really well designed and has very high production values. All around a well polished game with great graphics and soundtrack. For instance, the opening movie sequence was voiced by the actor, Christopher Lee, known for his roles as Dracula and the evil wizard, Sauron, in Lord of the Rings.

The initial learning curve is a little steep without strong tutorial missions, but persistent players will be rewarded with hours of fun. I recommend playing against the computer bots on easy mode, and if possible, get a friend to play co-op with you against the bots. You won't be disappointed.

Demigod is something of a sleeper hit that may have been overshadowed by the likes of League of Legends (LOL) and Defense of the Ancients (DOTA 1 and DOTA 2). However, this game is just so cool when you have a friend to play with.

Keg gives Demigod four thumbs up!

A very good casual MOBA game to play with your friends. I do not recommend getting this on its own, even though there are some really good AI mods available for it, it's not really the same thing playing against the computer. But getting a four pack and duking it out with friends is stupidly awesome.

With all the patches and a few balance mods from the official forums and this game is great. It also looks bloody damn gorgeous.

Demigod is one of those games which surprised the hell out of me in many ways. From the overall presentation, the graphics and audio and the very fun and addictive gameplay, Demigod is one of the best mixed genre games and a shining example of how great game developers can continue to evolve old ideas into bigger and better games. For players looking for some challenging strategy with an RPG skill system that allows the player to tailor the game to their play style, will find a fun and affordable game with Demigod.Demigod is one of those games which are focused for a restricted community. The game is strategy, but it’s also a role-playing and an action game, and every genre it tries its well executed, offering a deep and engaging on-line gameplay. Not traditional at all, and surprisingly intense.Just make sure you understand what kind of game you are buying and you won't be disappointed.

I tried LOL at one point and I'm in the Heroes of the Storm Alpha but I just wasn't very good or had any idea what I was doing with these MOBA style games. Then my friend introduced me to this one and it was awesome. After the first battle I had a great grasp on what I was doing and pretty much stomped face for our remaining games. The graphics are nice, the characters are diverse and each one plays differently.
My favorite thing are the levels.
They are all very different. Instead of the same map with the same things just moved around in different spots, each arena is a new setting, the layout is different along with the placement of the various buildings, flags, and portals, and the ambient surroundings are somethign as well. It's a nice change. It forces you to rethink your path, strategy somewhat for each arena you play on.
If you like League and Dota and other MOBA games, definitely get this one... and then play it with me!

Great game, highly unfortunate it's too dead for playing online matches. Apparently never had much of a matchmaking system, either. However, the single player is still a lot of fun and I highly recommend picking it up.

Demigod is a DOTA-like game that while providing a generally pleasing take on the genre fails to provide a complete experience and a number of game breaking issues means that most players will never truly enjoy it.

Demigod is a mix of strategy and role playing action, you pick from a list of demigods, either strong damage dealing assassins or minion summoning generals each with a unique set of skills and then do battle on a large arena as a team against another team of either human or AI controlled deities. As you kill enemies and do battle you earn currency and experience allowing you to level your demigod up through a branching skill-tree as well as purchase a variety of upgrades at your homebase, anything from stat boosting wearables to potions and massive faction boosts are available. At the end of a match all is reset and you get to do it all over again against a new foe or controlling a new hero.

Demigod makes a number of rookie mistakes however. The lack of any sort of tutorial makes the game difficult to learn and the single-player matches against the AI does in no way prepare you for the multi-player. As a heavily team dependent game it is quite possible for a single inexperienced player to lose the match regardless of his teammates leading to a generally hostile community.

The greatest mistake Demigod makes however, is in the multi-player. Connection issues plague every matchup and it requires an enormous amount of patience to play a full game. For a game that is so heavily multi-player based this should be a complete deal breaker for any potential buyers.

The game is fairly good looking and the sound and music is pleasant enough creating an enjoyable atmosphere.

All in all Demigod is a decent MOBA that provides you with a unique set of Generals and Assassins to control and has all the makings of an enjoyable game. The lack of single-player components and the massive connection issues makes me unable to recommend this to anyone however as even the most avid MOBA aficionado will be hard pressed to enjoy a game he cannot play.
