About This Game

The all father has vanished, creating an opening in the pantheon. To fill the void, Demigods from across from the mortal world must wage war against one another in a bid to ascend to true godhood.

Set in a magical world where gods walk among mortals, Demigod blends action, strategy and role-playing elements into a thrilling new experience. Select the Demigod that will lead your minions into battle and unleash the dogs of war against your rivals. Your Demigod will do whatever it takes in order to ascend to true godhood.

Once in the Arena, each Demigod will be joined by support troops that fight to the death as you struggle to seize key control points and slowly turn the tide of war in your favor. And your Demigod will level up during the course of each battle, becoming even more powerful as you unlock new abilities and powers. It's a brutal conflict of Demigod versus Demigod, where the very ground beneath their feet will tremble and quake.

Demigod is a real-time, tactical strategy game that includes extensive role-playing elements. Choose from several Demigods, each poised for battle with their own unique capabilities and awe-inspiring powers. Vanquish other would-be gods as you gain levels, increase in power, unlock the power of mystic artifacts and slowly battle your way closer to joining the Pantheon.

Key features:

Revolutionary strategy/action game that combines tactical prowess with role-playing depth.
  • Your Demigod is the focus of your power in the arena. Each of the 8 included Demigods has unique powers and abilities.
  • Like a role-playing game, players can purchase equipment for their Demigod, add new powers to their Demigod as it gains experience, acquire artifacts that remain persistent between games. Each Demigod plays differently enough that it provides a diverse gaming experience.
  • Like a strategy game, players have strategic objectives in each arena that, when captured, provide resources that give access to better units and some Demigods have the ability to summon their own minions that they can individually control. There are gold mines that can be captured to give more resources, artifact shops that, if captured, make their resources available to your team.
Battle in a persistent online world in multiplayer or play single player either in a skirmish or in the virtual tournament.
  • The on-line pantheon allows players to "skirmish" against other players of similar skill or take part in the on-line Pantheon tournament where players choose the path of light or darkness and earn favor points to help their faction win the tournament. Players can also play on the LAN or play custom games with friends on the Internet.
  • Players earn favor points through victory with different awards given for different achievements during the game. These favor points can be used to purchase special items that exist from game to game.
Increase your Demigod's powers and abilities by leveling up during each battle.
  • In each game, your Demigod will start at level 1. As you kill enemy grunts and Demigods and capture flags, you gain experience which will cause your Demigod to gain experience levels. When a new experience level is gained, the player can add new skills and abilities to their Demigod to make him or her more powerful.
Wage massive, earth-shattering battles across a series of awe-inspiring Arenas.
  • Demigod makes use of the same awesome technology as Supreme Commander. However, it has been greatly enhanced with Gas Powered Games' new "mesh" technology that allows the game to have incredible visuals even on older video cards. The arenas in Demigod are not your typical "maps". Instead, they have each been crafted as a full blown 3D model unto itself in which players battle on the surface of them.
Seize key, strategic positions on the map and turn the tide against your enemy. Push deep into their base and destroy them once and for all.
  • Key resources in an arena are controlled by capturing the flag associated to that resource. When a player controls that resource, the entire team benefits. Controlling flags also generates war points which are added to your team's war score. When enough war points are collected, new upgrades in the team's Citadel become available for purchase.

There are a lot of negative reviews on here. Which is to bad, because it is a well done game. Most of the complaints are mainly due to the non-support of PvP. If you want the LOL experience this is not your game, but if you want a single player game that you can custimize each skirmish / tournament then this is a fantastic find.

I only ever played the Single-player mode:

I really enjoyed this as a strategy game. I was surprised to see it is labelled as a MOBA but I've never played any other MOBA games.

Easy to learn
Good for a casual player
immersive
unique story and game elements
I think the current price is still worth it.

This is honestly a good game that just got overshadowed with the release of League of Legends. Once that happened, it just couldn't compete with Leagues F2P model. If you overlook the lack of online players, this game is seriously fun to play with friends. The graphics are much higher quality then League of Legends, Dota 2, Heroes of Newerth, etc. And the gameplay is solid.

TRY IT OUT !!!

This game requires a stupid stardock account. I have had 3 goes at creating, one each time it has failed. Yet my friend next to me just set up an account really easily without the same difficulties on his laptop. These difficulties mean that I am unable to play the game.

This game was my very first experience with Mobas. I also have to admit I have only play it solo, since hardly any one ever plays it.

It was because of this game that I started to play Dota2.

I give it a 15/10

To be honest, it is not worth to buy unless your friends have bought this game already or you like play with BOT only.
This game is too old to play multiplayer match.
No more developing and upgrading, only 10 heroes to chosen.
Easy to build equipment set because not much equipment to choose
First MOBA I have played, though I hate MOBA :(

Demigod is a fun game but all games have their troubles.

Community Size

This game has one of the troubles of a small amount of people who play it,
Which is fine for me because I play mostly local games.
To some others this may be bad but this doesn't really affect how I like Demigod.
Sadly, The community size is a 2/10 due to the small ammount of people.

Gameplay

Demigod has some nice, fun gameplay involved.
It's got some really good features with the skill trees and all that.
I'd rate the gameplay a 9/10.

Skill Requirements

This game was my first MOBA game and I settled in within about 5 minutes to all the things in the game.
I'd say you just need to watch 1 or 2 videos of a MOBA game to understand how it works.

Characters

This game has a pretty wide amount of characters to choose from.
My personal favourite character is The Rook,
But not everyone agrees with me and alot of people like other things.

Other Pros

Very simple to learn,
Good introduction to MOBA games.
Great Graphics.

Cons

A little bit expensive.

Overall
9/10 Game!
Worth the money to get it.

This game has almost no single player content, except skirmish mode against AI. It is like practice for multiplayer, but there is no online community and there hasn't been for years. Waste of money.

Love this game so much. Don't have anything good to say that hasn't already been said. Only downside is the lack of online community means you are limited to playing with friends and bots.

That said.... don't buy it unless it's on sale. =(

Now here is a MOBA game that never got the credit it deserved. Demigod popped on my radar a few years back but when it launched there were several server issues that hindered the initial launch. I still praise this game because when the dust settled and the mud slinging stopped it turned out to be a pretty little gem.

Demigod borrows interesting ideas from RTS games and implements that into MOBA gameplay. Capturing points, upgrading troops, towers and buildings are just a few of these mechanics and I welcome them as a different way of looking at how MOBA games could add layers of gameplay. Unfortunately there was nothing else added to the game with the exception of two extra demigods. Each demigod is unique and you still level up, gain gold, upgrade skills and buy items.

I've had some incredible matches on Demigod when the community remained active and it is something I always go back to with a few friends for bot matches. The AI matches can get incredibly hectic on the higher difficulties with Demigod offering a variety of maps. You can pick up Demigod now for $10 but I've seen it for around $5 on the sales.

Pros:
> BEAUTIFUL models and graphics
> The music isn't annoying
> Many maps
> While few characters to play (10 ain't too bad), each has a large tree of abilities to develop
> I found it quite easy to pick up the games main concepts and strategies
> Pretty cheap to pick up

Cons:
> Dead community
> Too few items to purchase
> Kinda slow paced I guess
> No tutorial

If you got someone else to play this with then there isn't much to complain about regards to the whole community being dead. But it's good, basically a simpler Dota 2,

> without Russians

This game is really well designed and has very high production values. All around a well polished game with great graphics and soundtrack. For instance, the opening movie sequence was voiced by the actor, Christopher Lee, known for his roles as Dracula and the evil wizard, Sauron, in Lord of the Rings.

The initial learning curve is a little steep without strong tutorial missions, but persistent players will be rewarded with hours of fun. I recommend playing against the computer bots on easy mode, and if possible, get a friend to play co-op with you against the bots. You won't be disappointed.

Demigod is something of a sleeper hit that may have been overshadowed by the likes of League of Legends (LOL) and Defense of the Ancients (DOTA 1 and DOTA 2). However, this game is just so cool when you have a friend to play with.

Keg gives Demigod four thumbs up!

A very good casual MOBA game to play with your friends. I do not recommend getting this on its own, even though there are some really good AI mods available for it, it's not really the same thing playing against the computer. But getting a four pack and duking it out with friends is stupidly awesome.

With all the patches and a few balance mods from the official forums and this game is great. It also looks bloody damn gorgeous.

Important to note though that the online community is dead. There is NOTHING going on there. So you will play with friends or the AI. Forget online.

Best MOBA I've seen so far. It's got everything and actually requires you to think your next move and also empowers you as player to contribute to victory other than "win teamfight -> game over" base destroyed before enemy respawns back. Some players in your team can push lanes, others can capture towers, others can upgrade your own towers or units or citadel or even spawn multiple types of minions/archers/balistas/angels/giants etc. You could go capture some mines or that all round wanted +20% Experience Flag or the infamous +15% HP and EVEN upgrade yourself with multiple spawn-able units that you directly control yourself and that can be purchased from the shop. There's a lot of diversity in maps as there are many of them and unlike other mobas this one actually has mods! You know things that upgrade your UI, bot AI, Extra items etc.

I'm having a blast playing this game and would recommend it to anyone who likes MOBA games because it is unique in this genre.

This game is like League of Legends, DOTA 2, Heroes of the Storm and nothing like them. It has a slow, deliberate gameplay where you always have the option of running away, but seldom do. This often gives the feeling of tactics more than a click-fest. You could have given up the defense and backed off, but you took a stand and won (or died heroically).
There are only 10 heroes, but it is impossible to buy all abilities of a demigod during one match. The item list is a bit short, split between equipment (~6x6 low to medium-powered items) and artifacts (~12 late-stage heavy hitters). The heroes are all rendered as high-quality models, and the maps are plentiful. Add in the 4 different victory conditions and matches can be very different.
I like the feeling of control and the well thought-out hero concepts. I mean, one of the demigods is a giant walking fortress that shoots arrows, catapults and magic tower blasts, slotting into the defense grid :).

Demigod is one of those games which surprised the hell out of me in many ways. From the overall presentation, the graphics and audio and the very fun and addictive gameplay, Demigod is one of the best mixed genre games and a shining example of how great game developers can continue to evolve old ideas into bigger and better games. For players looking for some challenging strategy with an RPG skill system that allows the player to tailor the game to their play style, will find a fun and affordable game with Demigod.Demigod is one of those games which are focused for a restricted community. The game is strategy, but it’s also a role-playing and an action game, and every genre it tries its well executed, offering a deep and engaging on-line gameplay. Not traditional at all, and surprisingly intense.Just make sure you understand what kind of game you are buying and you won't be disappointed.

I really wish Demigod was a free to play game with a better server and community, it's a fun MOBA except you will probably wait 1-2 hours before you can start a game that is 3v3. The community just isn't there because the servers are so weak, but the game is very fun.

I tried LOL at one point and I'm in the Heroes of the Storm Alpha but I just wasn't very good or had any idea what I was doing with these MOBA style games. Then my friend introduced me to this one and it was awesome. After the first battle I had a great grasp on what I was doing and pretty much stomped face for our remaining games. The graphics are nice, the characters are diverse and each one plays differently.
My favorite thing are the levels.
They are all very different. Instead of the same map with the same things just moved around in different spots, each arena is a new setting, the layout is different along with the placement of the various buildings, flags, and portals, and the ambient surroundings are somethign as well. It's a nice change. It forces you to rethink your path, strategy somewhat for each arena you play on.
If you like League and Dota and other MOBA games, definitely get this one... and then play it with me!

A game that was so far ahead of its time that others are still trying to catch up. Beautiful graphics that still surpass any other MOBA out. Nice sound track and great sound effects. With a surround system the battles pound.(When Rook starts swinging his hammer, you feel it.) Not to mention, Christopher Lee as the narrator!

There is a small (and seemingly growing} group of players on this one. Join the community forums to find players that really enjoy it. Also there is a mod pack that absolutely crucial for this game, again see the steam community forums for details of where to get it. (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/412017)

I have had this one for a while and I love that it came out in 2009 and I am still having so much fun with it. With the mod pack(which fixes some AI issues) the game provides an amazing single player experience and with a full roster in multiplayer the game owns. Inspite of Dota's massively superior numbers and the full weight of Valve's marketing, Demigod eats Dota's lunch. (Also, please not that I bought the Box version on release- then got the Steam version when it became available. Only mention it because the Steam hours played listed are not accurate of my play time with this one.)

Be advised though, you should consider this as a "Single Player" purchase. Do that and you will enjoy the ride.

Short version: If you have ANY desire to play a MOBA that was ahead of its time. Get this.

Long-ish textwally version: This game was the BEST way back in the day when there was a somewhat lively community, it's died down quite a lot since, but still decent. The gameplay was, and to me, still is, slightly is ahead of the MOBA curve in it's own way, such as being able to upgrade your main citadel to buff your creep waves and the like. Now due to it's age, theres many a bug, my personal favorite being random times where your character won't bloody move when told, but that's pretty minor and rare.
Another thing I love is the fact that, while certain God's are more suited to certain roles, there is no "Best" build for every situation for a given character. Speaking of God's, quite a bit of diversity, you've got anywhere from the fragile archer angel, Regulus, to the literal walking castle Rook. The gods are split into two types: Assassins and General's, Assassins just worry about themselves, whereas General are capable of summoning various creatures, either through abilities or items.
While there are admittedly only 10 gods, and all there ever will be as far as we can tell, well, outside of mods of course, but they all have a huge amount of thought and love put into their designs and back story.
There are about 8 maps, and 4 modes, so it may repeat a bit... In hindsight I realize this was just me gushing over the game, but still, if that doesn't make you interested, dunno what will, 9.5/10
