Sonic CD Review:
Rating: 9/10
A very full-fledged sonic game, full of speed. It combines the previous speed of Sonic seen in Sega's "Sonic 1" and
adds new features like the "Super Peel Out" to create a much faster Sonic than seen in the previous Sonic games.

With that said, many of the features in Sonic CD include:
Spin-Dash (Not featured on original version of Sonic CD)
Super Peel Out
New mode 7 like- special stages
Time Stones (Alternatives to Chaos Emeralds)
Ability to travel through alternative periods of the same act (Effective for obtaining a good future through all zones)
That and many more are included.
Now as I extend this review I will try to list the pros and cons of this game, in the way that it fits best to my opinion.

(Of course there is many bad to this game also, so with that said.)

Pros:
Great soundtrack (Choice of two soundtracks: USA or EU/JP
HD widescreen support
Achievements (If thats your thing ...)
Lots of content in-game
Creative Boss Battles (creative, yet for some boss battles,
it would be considered lack luster, if you're used to the genesis games)
Ability to play as more than one character
Great for the price
Controller Support (Which is nice? I suppose)
More space to gain speed
Nice Remake
------------------------------
Cons:
No Filters (Big problem for many wanting the nostalgic experience)
Akward level-design
Sluggish controls (I had no problem with it, but as I've seen, people keep bringing that up)
Too much platforming in some sections to gain real speed

Because of this, Sonic CD on Steam is a very nice port of the once Sega CD exclusive.
I would especially recommend this to users who would like to play old school fast platformers on their hd monitor
or high defintion television. The many problems with Sonic CD are as followed, its akward level design and sluggish controls can really effect the experience of this game, but if you are able to ignore it's flaws, I must say, its a must
buy for any classic Sonic fan, a fan of Sonic games who is looking for a fresh new take on the series, or for even someone who is looking for a cheap platformer, with tons of speed and much of platforming.

This game is my most favorite Sonic Game, Of course many will beg to differ but for me this is my favorite Sonic Game.
I won't get into a long rant but this time take a quick start for the Story Gameplay and Others.

*There's no actual story I believe considering Sonic or Robotnic don't talk...* *I'll fill in some parts*

Story: Sonic is bored one day watching TV eating a chilldog drinking Dr.Pepper Cherry *Shameless shout out to my favorite soda* he flicked channels to the news where he learnt of a Little Planet about to enter Morbius Orbit. He rushed off ready to see it, Only to notice that it was chained still. After investigating realize Robotnic was back to his old ways and now Sonic must stop him at all cost. Enter the second Zone, Amy one of Sonic Stalkers Friends get kidnapped by Metal Sonic. Metal Sonic was made by Robotnic to rival the real Sonic skipped planty of Zones until Stardust Highway. Where you must race against Metal Sonic in a final battle whoever wins is the true Sonic! Sonic wins in a hard fought battle but only the true Sonic was capable to win. You save Amy and now you must stop Robotnic once and for all! After Defeating Robotnic for the last time Sonic Escape little planet in time with Amy, But Robotnic tries to Escape using a Time Stone, And Sonic Throws a rock at him.

Gameplay: Fairly simple like always won't get into the special stages. Sonic get's one new move to help him navigate The Figure 8 *Wish this was still a thing in sonic games ;-;* This is faster then the Iconic Spindash but he can still take damage making the Spindash better.

Graphics: This game a Remake/Remaster/whatever, It's add 3 Graphical settings and the best is Nogalstic as it's fit the game better.

I'll be honest I'm tired I will add onto this maybe some other time.

This isn't my best review but here's the quick rating

FINAL RATING May Change BEAT IT IN STYLE! 8.7/10 Too lazy to add in other stuff right now see ya!

This game is the perfect example of a HD port of an old game. Along with having the entire game in pixel perfect HD, it also keeps the sound test and debug mode, and on top of all that it let's you switch between the US soundtrack or Japanese soundtrack, so it's just not a great game, but a perfect game.

This game is disappointing. Sloppy platforming and lack of speed is what I got out of this.

I know I'm going to get hate, but I didn't find the fun. Where is it?

This game is very bad. Poor level design, Every level looks exactly the same and just over the top looking, horrible soundtrack, boring bosses and time travel that does not seem fun. Does not compare to old sonics

I'll start off by saying that this game is one of the crowning magnum opuses of the 16-bit CD era, if you haven't heard already. Take the basic mechanics of Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) on the Genesis / Mega Drive, add a killer CD/DA audio soundtrack, expand the levels dramatically, even polish up the graphics a bit, and there you have Sonic CD on the Sega CD... in a nutshell! With the time travel feature (needed for the good ending), you can traverse 4 different versions of each stage: Present, Past, Good Future (after destroying a hidden capsule in the Past), and Bad Future (when the hidden capsule is still intact)! For the time, a *massive* side-scroller!

This 2011 "port" gives us this original classic, but with glorious 16:9 widescreen display modes, and both US and JP/EU soundtracks! *Both* of the game soundtracks are remarkable, with a more Electronic/House/Eurodance feel for JP/EU, and a more contemporary Rock/Pop sound for the US. Personally, either soundtrack is equally fitting!
(For the purists, however, you *might* notice that the physics in this remake are just-so-slightly inaccurate (but excruciatingly close), and even moreso inaccurate during the Special Stage rounds.)

Anyway, at least *try* this game! My suggestions are to play it in "Nostalgia" mode (no graphics filters), and apply the "Opening / Ending Music mod" (find it on one of the Steam Workshop guides, or search on Google)! I genuinely cannot say enough good things about this.

Of all of the Sonic games released in the olden days, none stood out to me more than Sonic CD. Breaking the rules of "gotta go fast" somewhat, in Sonic CD, you're encouraged to take Sonic around to explore the huge, lush stages (and in no less than 4 variations of each, depending on your time travel habits) in order to find two key items that will bring about a Good Future when destroyed: a Robot Generator, and a Holograph projector depicting Sonic's robotic doppelganger, Metal Sonic. The rest of the game is the old "get through two stages per zone and then kick Robotnik's butt" formula from Sonic 1.

Oh yes, the time travel! Sonic can now warp between Past, Present (where he starts most stages), and, depending on his destroying the aforementioned generator and projectors, either a Good Future free of Robotnik's control, or a hellish, twisted Bad Future where Robotnik runs amok. Special stages make a return, where Sonic must run through a psuedo-3D field, destroying 6 UFOs to release a Time Stone. Getting all 7 of these stones will give guaranteed Good Futures.

The gameplay is pretty good, but the game's aesthetics truly stand out. The stages are full of beautiful, surreal, and very colorful pop art styles, with neon colors and lights, shiny bumpers, gorgeous backgrounds, and your choice of either the original Japanese/European soundtracks (which is probably one of the single best Sonic soundtracks EVER), or the USA soundtrack. The USA soundtrack isn't BAD, per se, but opinions will be mixed as to which one fits Sonic better. It's a matter of taste.

But yes, do get Sonic CD. This new version uses a brand new engine with perfectly smooth 60FPS action throughout the entire experience. It also has the Spin Dash option from Sonic 2 included, the option to switch soundtracks, a cleaned up Time Attack mode, and buttery smooth Special Stages. Make sure to go fast and play this one!

Sonic CD is the summary of what made the original Sega Genesis Sonic games... well, good. The same mechanics as before, with a completely new move altogether - just hold up and mash the Spin-dash button - and the same sort of level design, but... bigger. A LOT bigger. Plus the four different versions of each stage, that can be achieved with TIME TRAVEL - weird concept in Sonic, I know.

The music, the bloody music, my god is it good. I didn't play the original, but it gives you the choice of the two different soundtracks between each region version - Japan/Europe on one hand and the US in the other. Personally I much, MUCH prefer the JP/EU one, except for Palmtree Panic, then the US one is better for that round. Plus, the infamous US boss theme has returned ladies and gentlemen, so be prepared to ♥♥♥♥ yourself, it really is ♥♥♥♥ing creepy. All in all the soundtrack is my favourite thing in thes game (not that the rest of it is bad, ♥♥♥♥ing far from it), and it's better than most music nowadays in my opinion.

A fantastic game for a fantastic price. Would recommend this to hell and back.

It all started when I was 7 years old. My parents gave me a Sega Genesis and a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog for christmas. I fell in love with it the moment I booted up the game. The graphics, the music, the speed! It overwhelmed my young mind. I played it for hours on end, memorizing each level, the location of every powerup, every enemy, every single ring. It was the only thing I did, I stopped going outside and playing with my friends, for Sonic was the only friend I needed. Eventually I became unsatisfied, I needed a new Sonic the Hedgehog game to fuel my addiction. My prayers were answered with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. My parents refused to buy it for me. They believed I was too obsessed with the first one and knew that buying the second one would only make my obsession worse. This devestated me. I NEEDED that game, I felt like an alcoholic going through withdrawl. I lost all of my spirit, I had trouble sleeping at night, and sometimes I would experience hallucinations where Sonic was in the room with me. I begged my parents every day, but they wouldn't budge. I felt I had lost the will to live. Thankfully, I got the game. I aquired it the same way every kid got something that they wanted but their parents wouldn't buy for them, Grandma. I was overjoyed, finally I could experience the masterpiece that is known as Sonic The Hedgehog 2. This time he was accompanied by Tails! I was delighted. I played this game, and mastered it like I had the original. By now I had lost contact with society, I didn't talk to anybody at school, I had no friends, and I never left the house. This didn't bother me though, in fact I preferred it that way. Just as I started to get bored of that game, Sonic 3 came out. My obsession had hit an all-time high, I was amazed at the quality of that game. We now had Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. They were my friends, or "The Gang" as I called them. My parents were scared of me now. If they tried to take the game away from me, I would throw a tantrum and break things until they gave it back. No amount of reasoning, counseling, or Native American rituals could change me, because by now Sonic had was not just an obsession, but a lifestyle. I lived and breathed Sonic. But then came the dark days, no sonic games were coming out. Sega had stopped supporting the Genesis, and had launched the Saturn. I didn't have one, but that didn't matter. No new Sonic games were coming out. There were rumors, but the only one that ever turned out to be true was Sonic R. I saw it as an abomination, how could Sega do that to Sonic? After several years I had just about given up. I would often times cry myself to sleep, believing that Sega had given up on the blue hedgehog that I had come to adore. I wrote my own stories about Sonic, but they weren't enough. But then it happened. I was at the grocery store with my mother, when I saw it: A magazine with a picture of the Sega Dreamcast plastered right on the cover. I begged my mom to buy it for me, and she did, relieved that I wanted something that wasn't Sonic related, or so she thought. I read the articles about the upcoming system, and then I saw what I have been wanting to see for years, a new Sonic game was in the works, and it was 3D too! My life had a purpose again. When the day finally came, I was there. I was the first in line, I had convinced poor old Grandma to buy it for me, and I made sure I got a copy of Sonic Adventure. If the games on the Genesis amazed me, Sonic Adventure left me speechless. The worlds were so detailed, the graphics so realistic, the music blew me away. This was the way Sonic was meant to be. It rekindled the fire that had laid dormant in me that is Sonic. I wrote more fanfiction, I made my own fancharacters and I even shipped them. Then I realized something, Sonic wasn't just a blue hedgehog on TV, He was a part of me. I became one with Sonic. If you want to be like me and know what truly matters in life, I fully recommend this game to you. Sonic is more than just a game, Sonic is a way of life.
