"Could anything be better than being Batman and having a whole city to explore as well as solving a mystery in an insane asylum overrun by its inmates?"

About This Game

Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players flying through the expansive Arkham City - five times larger than the game world in Batman: Arkham Asylum - the new maximum security "home" for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Featuring an incredible Rogues Gallery of Gotham City's most dangerous criminals including Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze and many others, the game allows players to genuinely experience what it feels like to be The Dark Knight delivering justice on the streets of Gotham City.

Batman: Arkham City - Game of the Year Edition includes the following DLC:

  • Catwoman Pack
  • Nightwing Bundle Pack
  • Robin Bundle Pack
  • Harley Quinn’s Revenge
  • Challenge Map Pack
  • Arkham City Skins Pack

Batman: Arkham City - Game of the Year Edition packages new gameplay content, seven maps, three playable characters, and 12 skins beyond the original retail release:

Batman: Arkham City is the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum.
The game begins a while after Batman: Arkham Asylum. Arkham City is a big section of Gotham City which has been turned into a large-scale prison for its criminals, all constructed by Hugo Strange. Very early in the game Bruce Wayne is campaigning to demolish the institution when he himself is incarcerated under Strange's orders.
While Strange prepares to commence "Protocol 10", Wayne obtains his equipment via airdrop from Alfred, allowing him to become Batman. Now it is up to him to find out what Protocol 10 is. Along the way he fights several famous villains, among them Joker, Riddler, Penguin and Two-Face.
The story is pretty well done. Many recognizable characters on both sides of the Batman mythos are along for the ride.
Batman: Arkham City plays and controls much like Arkham Asylum. But one thing you will notice is that the game takes place in an open city, rather than in a single area. Arkham Asylum was by no means a small game, but in Arkham City the player is able to get the full Batman experience by gliding around the city in a much larger scale.
The combat system is pretty much the same as in previous game. You punch, counter, and use gadgets and finishing moves to subdue large amounts of enemies.
Besides of the main story and side quests you also have a lot of other stuff to do like solving Riddler secrets, Catwoman Missions, challenge maps and more. This game will last you a long time if you are trying to go for 100% completion.
The graphics are stunning and all the characters look really good. Faces and facial expressions are brilliantly made.
The soundtrack is literally Hollywood movie quality. The voice acting is incredible and everything else sounds great as well.
Batman: Arkham City is a great experience for anyone who likes Batman or who wants to discover his universe. It is definitely worth to buy and to play.

Semi-large sandbox game, with nice storyline and lots of small side puzzles, and also some small "easter eggs".

+ Fluid combat

+ Open world
+ Plenty of content (Especially finding the Riddler trophies)

Batman Arkham City is a fun game. It has an excellent story, and at the time of the first games release, a revolutionary fighting style. While it may be played out and stolen by now, it is still great to see the game that first created it, and how well they were using it. The plot of the story, while I will not give more away than the beginning, leads off of the first game: Batman is kidnapped as Bruce Wayne by Hugo Strange, and thrown into a maximum security prison/city called Arkham City. Soon after arriving, he finds out that the Joker is sick, and after some shenanigans by the clown, he is made sick as well, leading him to have to find Mr. Freeze and get a cure. The game is surprisingly difficult, and has a strong sense of stealth, especially in the Predator missions, where you have to take out a room full of armed gunmen, who are incredibly dangerous to you. You can use a large array of high tech tools; Smoke bombs, batarangs, and grappling hooks being some of the simplest, to defeat them without dying. My favourite part, however, is the Riddler. He sets up a whole bunch of puzzles for you to find and solve, giving you missions to play outside of the main game, as well as concept art and character trophies. It is a very fun game, and earns a excellent score of 8/10

BATMAN Arkham City Review! I almost forgot to do it after I beat the story so here it is.

The story was pretty short but the fight system is pretty awesome. I kinda wish the fights lasted longer but I was playing on regular difficulty. Apparently the new game plus mode is really intensely hard, but I didn't care enough to go through it all again. I was pleased with the game on my first run through so I didn't really want to go back and collect all the craploads of Riddler trophies scattered throughout the game or finish any of the side quests.

The overall story is pretty solid, but I was feeling like something was missing and I can't quite put my finger on it. It's good, but it just seemed a little too... cookie cutter Batman. There wasn't really anything that stood out or blew my mind. I guess that's what some people enjoy about Batman is that he's Batman and predictable. I don't say that in a negative way, just that some people might like that more than me is all. I had a few "what a twist" moments that mainly came from Batman's adversaries rather than himself. Basically Batman just beat the hell out of everyone to get what he needs. I liked how the story was like a few short stories end to end that had an overall theme. It's pretty cool the way Batman works his way through all the scum in Arkham City one by one with the same suit that shows wear and tear as the game progresses.

The combat system is by far my favorite aspect of the game. At first I was really not getting it down, but once I realized it's not about button mashing and I have to time literally every hit after the first 2 connect. Basically Batman crits everyone after his second hit, and assuming you're targeting the right thug and not button mashing you can string together some totally mega badass combos. Not to mention the gadgets. They're all there including some new fangled things that wouldn't make it to the movies, but for the purposes of the game it's perfect. Lot's of different configurations of gadget use and combos make for some ridiculous fights. I never got tired of the slow-mo hits either, somehow they were always satisfying. Even if the stealth parts were fun, like hanging some random unfortunate goon upside down of the side of a building, or sneaking around in vents only to bust into the room and knock down a bunch of thugs. All in all the combat is what makes this game worth playing in my opinion.

Some of the voice acting is really good and other times it's pretty lame. Sometimes it sounds like people reading to each other off a script with no emotion, then other times it really great and immersive. Joker is by far the best and sounds crazy as you'd expect. Batman wasn't all that great though, but Harley Quinn was spot on as well as a few others.

The graphics are outstanding and that's probably my second favorite thing about this game. It just LOOKS really good. The devs really didn't miss much, lots of really fine details are everywhere and really add to the overall ambiance when necessary. If you're not into 3rd person combat, at least play it for the graphics. It's gorgeous.

Batman AC: 6.95. Fine I'll round up. 7.
