For the first time ever see the inclusion of dynamic water, physics objects and worm classes! Customise your experience by choosing what classes you play with, what they look like and even how they speak!

Worms™ Revolution sticks an exploding sheep under worm-on-worm conflict and blasts it squarely into the 21st century.

  • Dynamic Water. Dynamic water features in an array of new weapons and utilities and it can also appear already on the landscape in matches.
  • Exploding Physics Objects! Physics objects are destructible items that possess devastating effects as some have different properties when they explode. Watch out as they release fire, poison and water!
  • New Weapons. Wash those worms away using the new water weapons: Water Bomb, Water Pistol and Water Strike. Dynamic water can be drained away with the addition of the new Plug Hole utility. There’s also Stick Up, which is used to steal from your opponent’s inventory and the Wrench, which can repair damaged Sentry Guns and physics objects.
  • Hilarious Script and Voice Over Talent.  Worms™ Revolution brings together two comedy legends, who between them bring alive the humorous world of Worms. Multi-BAFTA award winning writer Dean Wilkinson provides the script, which is hilariously brought to life by the accomplished Matt Berry as the unseen narrator of the game, Don Keystone, a wildlife documentary maker.

Well, it's worms. It's pretty much the same formula as worms back on the PS1 but with better graphics... I say better, it's just cartoony. Anyway, it's fine, the smack is kicking in and my flatmate and magical owl, Tim, is getting impatient because our Dominos is ready to be picked up. Long story short, it's an allegory for war and the existential crisis of human insignificance on a backdrop of clowny landscape with oddly satisfying water physics. Oh, and don't use the platform skill. It's war, not Sim city. ♥♥♥♥♥.

Compared to Reloaded this game, whilst programmed excellently, is just 'meh' to play.

The 3D graphics are fine (though not really a gamplay improvement at all).

I played this for less than 3 hours and I've never loaded it since. I went back to Worms Reloaded (also availble on Steam right now).

The gameplay options in this version are just plain ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and dull. A shame. Go on. Attempt to setup 2 local custom human played teams and have a game with a mate. It's not possible. Or if it is, I cannot be bothered to decipher how that is accomplished within the criminally insane menu system. It ranks top of my all time annoying in game menu experiences. Really Team17, who in your team thought that menu system was well thought out? Give them some Xanax and tell them the bad news (Xanax is not available on Steam right now).

What must have seemed like inventive and fresh ideas, with the gameplay and worm configurations, turn out to be just artifice when you're playing the game. They seriously do not improve the game at all.

Clearly Team17 have realised their previous 3D graphics based worms games sucked to play in true 3D. The players could look and move around in 3 dimensions. But the gameplay suffered horredously. The extra dimension subracted the fun substantially whilst playing, especially when comapred to all the side-on 2D Worms games.

So this time around, Team 17 went for the combination of side-on 2D game play mixed with 3D rendering. Perhaps a good combination? I hoped so. Unfortunately the gameplay physics and controls are clunky in this version. The gameplay is woeful. Worms seldom get far before death. Moving around the board is a chore. This limits the strategy 'chess factor' that all previous versions of worms got right. In this version, all projectiles feel less-art more-maths,,. they feel dry and boring to play with - they have a distinct lack of fun, again, especially when compared to the 2D versions of worms (there's far few of them now).

I wish Team17 would continue to improve their 2D versions - their gameplay is fun and near perfection (a few bugs still in Reloaded).

Worms Reloaded is a far superior game to this one. Its 2D graphics have a far higher fidelity both in look and in terms of gameplay. It is just a better game all round.

So my final words on Worms Revolution : Team 17 : Throw this game on the scrap heap and release new verions of Reloaded, with tricked out options for settings and physics, the odd new weapon (bowling ball please). Play some traditional artists a decent wage to make fun new cartoon graphics. Noble. Fans want it. You'd rock]

Or release an API for us to mod the game (that I'd pay real cash for). Or monetise the game by allowing us to sell mods in a closed app market, Call it Worms United or something. Or just be lazy and release micro improved updates to Worms Reloaded's way of doing things & release 20 pound updates every few years and I'll buy them for life.

Boycott this game. Buy Worms Reloaded please.

PS
Team 17 : You have total freedom to use any of these ideas without fear of prosecution of any kind. Seriously, no paththetic lawsuits from me. Help yourself. You could flip it & have a new, ineffectual, weapon based on taking the mickey out of me personally (you could call it Pathetic Pedant or summink). I just want you to release 'more awesome' 'less three dee bellecks' that I can buy. So from a mega fan : Help yourself to ideas. Make new 2D variants with funky options to customise game (add that bowling ball please).

What kind of person sits down one day and thinks, "I'm gonna pitch an idea to the developers... a team of worms face off against another team of worms and kill each other in hilariouis turn based fashion."?

A genious, that's who.

10/10 would use holy grenade again.
