Back before there were virtual hats and special effect weapons, there were 3dmg Flamethrowers and One Shot snipers. This game is TFC (or Team Fortress Classic). With over 100 servers still online, there are many reasons to still play a timeless classic.

When I got this for Christmas in 1999 along with Half-Life, I didn't even know what it was.
When I got home two days later and installed it, my family wouldnt have access to our computer again.
I used to trade off every 5 deaths or 20 kills with my little brother until the late hours of the night. When I would get in trouble, TFC would be taken away, and I would have to go outside and play. I can still remember my best friends names, though I doubt they still play it. I can even still remember my favorite medic. I remember mulching until I could finally kick the ♥♥♥♥ out of anyone (this was before stat tracking, though I would assume the hours would be in the thousands.) VIP, Climb, and Jump maps were perfect to kill time and be silly with all your friends.
Though I havent played since TF2 came out, I miss this game more than anything ever. Definitely the fondest memory I have as a child. This game made me fall in love with Sierra (VALVE), and to know what real FPS's should be like.
I have purchased this game three times after the initial gift, to install on friends and girlfriends computers so that I could play at their houses.
Buy this even if it's just to have it in your collection and you never play it. At least you can say that you have it and pretend that you are OG.
I love you TFC.

13 Years later still the ONLY FPS game on PC that I can actually play for more than 5 mins at a time. In fact I can play for days at a time. The speed, control, strategy and overal logic this game uses is pure beauty. Although it blatantly breaks nearly every realistic law of physics known to man kind, it still easily trumps all of the zombie filled, fantasy land, role-playing nonsense this next generation has grown to obsess over. It makes no sense how fun and enjoyable this game STILL is, regardless of it being ''dead'' and bereft of nearly all organized play (outside off all of the low-lifes wasting everyones time using Perfect Player packages in the pickups ofc). You may need to be born before 1990 or so to truly grasp the awesomeness of this game, but if you do, kudos and thank you for playing. Nuff said.

Was my first PC game.
Had the best community in all of the gaming communites I've ever seen.

Made lots of memories on this game, not just from its fundamental gameplay of team vs team
but had fun with the imaginative mods too
hide and seek
minigolf
entmod (the gmod before gmod)
escape
surf
fun tdm (powerups, hook, jetpack etc...)
free for all
radiomod
NeoTF
the list goes on, but this was off the top of my head

It will always be my favorite
too bad its dead c:

Excellent game! It's very similar to TF2, with a few small differences and dated graphics. The graphics are dated )it's a 1999 game) but I like them! Sounds, models and various textures are taken from the original Half-Life. There are a few active servers, especially the EVIL servers. It's not dead anymore and you can still find an active community. You can also find adventure and fun maps! Try it now if you don't mind the old graphics.

Great fun to play, a good community still going after 15 years and lots of different maps to choose from. My one critism is the Medic, when an enemy medic infects you there is no way to get rid of this unless you die, even if you pick up health. But overall, I give it 8/10.

It sucks and its hard! Very little like Team Fortress 2. Very difficult to figure out what's going on just by playing. Lots of dying involved.

But damn it, I was good at Half-Life, so I'll git gud at this.

Team Fortress Classic (TFC) i think would have been amazing for its time. then Team Fortress 2 (TF2) came out. now the thing is this this game is just TF2, but with less maps, server's, gamemode's AND you cant get any different weapon's. which i can understand because this was made in 1999. but i just can't understand why Valve make you PAY for this game. because TF2 is free, and its so much better than this game. as for the gameplay it just confuses me, i dont know what im being shot by or where. maybe its just me but i don't think this game should cost actual money.

i give this game a 4/10.

i hope this review helped you. see ya'!

An incredibly great prequel to an incredibly great game.
I can say that this game is like the parent of TF2 who lacks certain features but is still awesome.

TFC is quite different from TF2 as it seems like originally they went for a more futuristic side of things. TF2 is set in the 1950s and this game seems like extremely later in a world where almost everyone uses a shotgun and it's like a cheesy action movie.
I know I sound strange, but let me rephrase:
TFC's maps and stuff all seem to have a futuristic feel to them, with the announcer being a robot instead of a power-hungry lady and airlock doors instead of... y'know, less spacey hazardy airlock doors.

As I said, this game is an amazing prequel to TF2 and it may have less OPness in all the classes, but it still lives up to its series' expectations.

THE ENEMY FLAG HAS BEEN TAKEN

Its a fun game for me since I always played on FM (server) with my brother and friends. It may be bad quality but its fun when you get to play on a server like that especially with all the custom characters, glows, glow trails, custom maps on FM. A great fun FPS co-op shooter game. Would love to play again with my brother and friends sometime on FM.
