This game will drive almost everyone insane. As difficult as it is, it' still a very fun game to play.

Awesome game!!! I would recommend this game to anyone who like challenges. It can be unforgiving at times but rewarding in return. I love the idea and concept of this game as I hope later on down the track there will be a DLC for more levels and other Mini Games for this, also maybe some extra mods for the ball other than the 3 that came with the game you have too unlock.
The game is challenging either way when using K/B & Mouse or XBOX 360 Controller, but can be played smoothly depending on what works for you.
Overall gameplay, graphics and music I am very content with what they have done. Shame the game has only 7 levels.
Graphics can be distracting and sometimes awkward when you have to move or view around to see where you have to go as objects sometimes block your vision.

Couple of minor glitches I had found while playing this game:
Random points through out the game the ball may either get stuck in corners or wedges.
Sometimes when jumping it doesnt always do it then and there. (Very rarely on odd occassions)
lvl 6 The TNT boxes sometimes get stuck and dont drop when needed too.
lvl 7 The last jump at the end you sometimes get stuck in free fall and forced to restart from the last checkpoint.

With only those minor glitches I have found, I still enjoyed playing this game and will enjoy playing it over again.
Personal rating: 7.5/10

Came into this hoping for a Super Monkey Ball-like experience, but unfortunately I didn't find it (nor have I found it in any game outside of Super Monkey Ball 1 or 2). It plays out more like a platformer where your character is a ball than a real...I'm not sure what you'd call it, but a game that focuses on the the physics, abilities, and limitations of the ball. The physics model of the game game is lacking, level design feels uninspired, and there are many frustration points with long jumps back to checkpoints. To top it all off it doesn't support controllers properly, only giving digital movement to the analog stick. Needless to say, that is the last nail in the coffin of a game in which your character is entirely round. Precision is important.

- Tommy

Great indie game so far. The concept is really simple but that's really the point. For a couple of bucks it's a nice buy.

The game has a ridiculous bug that makes it impossible to be played. Everytime I pressed the button to make the ball go to the left or right the game acted as the button was still being pressed even when I had already released the button. Don't play this garbage.

Frustration. Camera clipping into objects, making you unable to see the ball. Badly placed checkpoints. Frustration. Poor level design. Graphics from around the millennium. Music that sounds like it was made in one day. More frustration.

Feels like it was someone's school assignment in Unity programming 101.

I didn't enjoy playing this title. It just wasn't fun. Falling off the edge is too easy and the controls aren't that helpful. The graphics and audio are just average. The trailer is misleading. Give this one a pass.

Spectraball is part of a very narrow subgenre which you may call “ball platformers” (they are also called "marble rollers"). These type of games usually are nothing more than glorified tech demos that showcase and engine’s graphical and physics capabilities.
In this regard, Spectraball is no different. You control a ball, have three possible unique powers to help you on the stages, and your goal is to try to reach the end of each stage as fast as possible.

Although the game says it has puzzle elements, in reality this is a pure old-school platformer on par of the most well-known ball-busting hard NES titles from decades before.
This also means Spectraball is an excellent game for those who like to speedrun platformers, especially since the game has online leaderboards.
Sadly, the game is short, with only seven stages and three survival challenge maps which each offer an achievement.

Overall, if you like challenging platformers and indie engines which utilise wonderful graphics, this game is for you. If you want a puzzle game though, you will more than likely be disappointed. If I had to add some numeric value to this review, I'd go around 60/100; the game doesn't really have many strong or weak points, it's just another indie platformer. A fun pasttime for a few bucks.

I only bought this game for the /me emoticon. After recieving the level 5 badge and getting the foil badge and yet still not recieving the /me emoticon made me consider suicide. I decided to put together a group to stop the same thoughts running through other peoples heads upon getting the boost emoticon or the snowbro emoticon. Join now and help stop emoticon based suicide.

This game, oh boy... this game has cost me new a desk. Raging so much!

Raging aside, Spectraball is a entertaining yet aggravating game that mixes pinball and losing your marbles.

Graphical speaking, it is rather stunning. At first glance, I wasn't really expecting much but well, it's better than I anticipated. Controls are pretty smooth though if you're a klutz like myself, you'd be wishing Spectraball invested in handrails but where's the fun in that. Some controlling require some fast movements and reactions.

The music doesn't really have much of an impact but feels appropriate for the game. Though, with all the focus and rage, music the a last thing passing through your head, but take the time and listen. Might be a few tracks out there that picks your fancy.

Furthermore, from what I can tell, if you manage to beat the levels or get bored them, or you just suck. There is a availability of custom maps. I do not know if you can make them within the game or through a workshop, haven't really tried that area out yet.

Conclusion: Losing your marbles has never been so aggravating.

After reading all the negative reviews, I went into Spectraball with low hopes that it would be a terrible marble game. EXPECTATIONS BLOWN AWAY. So much fun! One of my favorite games of all time is Marble Blast Ultra and THIS is so great maybe even better. Once you can get past the camera clipping issues and 'meh' level design in a few sections, you will have an absolute blast. The minigames that come packed in are a short little time waster, but the story mode is a lot of fun with quite a few levels, and the custom maps that people have made are insane! Highly recommend.
Great leaderboard intergration as well.

Such a bad experience once again.

I´m hardly trying to stay positive about this game, but there are just so many flaws I can´t stand.

First of all, the level design is very bad. I often found myself with no clue what to do. "Volcanic Crater" was so bad, that I thought I would give up completely - not only it is hard to find the right way, but you can´t even see a damn thing. Other levels were only a bit better, with maybe snowy one being decent/enjoyable.
Even if you manage to orientate yourself in this mess, the game will throw graphical glitches, (gamechanging) bugs and unpredictable physics (requiring you to have godlike reactions) at you.
Simply put - campaign/main levels don´t bring much of a joy.

Then we have three mini games. Two of them are quite bad - "Gladiator" can be rigged easily and "Epic Crater" is heavily based on luck. The last one, "Laser Surgeon" is actually enjoyable, but you won´t be playing it over and over since it´s always the same.

Good things that save the game from being really bad are decent music and level creator.
Custom levels are much better and are the only reason you would possibly want to play the game more/again.

I would probably rather stick to Spectraball ´s modern predecessors such as Marble Blast Gold if you want to play a game of this kind. You will save yourself a lot of frustration.

Save your frustration for a more enjoyable game...

Judging from the credits, LEVEL DESIGN was made by one guy, because there were repetitive sections that bland out the experience. Throw onto the fact that the controls were very chunky, and you have something you wish you didn't spend $$ for...
