* Balancing changes for "Asymptote"
For years, there have been only 1~2 usable armors. We would like each armor to have its own special trait that makes it a decent option to research under different circumstances; to that end, we've modified capacitive, absorbant and reflective, as well as bio MG and plasma MG, to better suit the strategic commander. We've also buffed railguns and nerfed walls to make for a faster endgame. Artillery is back, baby! The new 180mm Artillery Cannon packs a much better punch than before. See the full changelog below.

* Other code fixes:
8 traces in cilinder to establish evenness of terrain; draw traces that fail
No more building placement on top of buildings/players/vehicles.
Arty Max Weight 870->855 Health 150->125
Reduced collision radii of all buildings to fit snugly around the model, allowing the ramps on all buildings to stick out and overlap. Added OffsetZ of 10 for all buildings to enable placement on not quite even terrain (except for walls, those weren't touched)

Re-added building hints, reimplemented much simpler than the old ones, and properly scaling to screen size

* Semantic versioning:
We're now using semantic versioning as described on http://semver.org/
The major version number is 2, and is bumped whenever we change so much that the game is fundamentally different.
The minor version number is 8, and is bumped for any change that requires both server and client to update
The patch version number is 0, and is bumped for any change that does not require an update to remain compatible - so, only crash fixes.

In addition to semantic versioning, which is useful for server owners and devs mostly, each future version will maintain a name for the current balancing (or "scripts"), with an optional suffix to indicate small tweaks or (potentially major) bugfixes. This also helps for beta testers to know what balancing they are testing.

Empires 2.7.1 Changes

Building previews now also print the reason why they cannot be built in their current position on screen, next to the building, which is colored according to the "main" reason. When outside of range, many of the reasons are not shown, to prevent scanning unexplored territory with a building preview to find enemies or enemy buildings. Also, it is no longer disallowed to have a building preview active when there are not enough resources for the building. This means you can have a building positioned beforehand, to place it the exact moment the resources come in.

I wrote a review back in 2011, but I am here to reivew it once more.

FANTASTIC game. Unique gameplay along with a unique style of game in general. The research tree adds varying gameplay to the late game creating a game that never becomes stale as each commander has their own play style. While the community may be toxic, it is toxicly funny as us vets turn and ♥♥♥♥♥ at each other, after ♥♥♥♥♥ing at new people, and create spectacles as 2 vets argue continuously about whos fault it was (Hint: It was the new persons).

Not for the light hearted, it is a great game if you can get past the learning curve. If you listen to a vet or a com when they give you advice, you will go far and won't get ♥♥♥♥♥ed at because at least you tried. However, if you go Scout (Assault) then you are useless and should uninstall.

Again, Great Game, Give it a try!

This is a total conversion mod for Half-Life 2 which features tanks and RTS elements. According to Steam Charts, it's seen a slight growth in its average player count to 15 with a peak count of about 60 in April.

Unfortunately, when I attempted to play the game I could count on one hand the players online. It quickly became clear that the player base isn't there to give the experience the developers envisioned.

I was going to explore the map list but on the first one I picked, the game forced me to opt in to be a "commander" on the server and then vote for myself. The process took a couple minutes, then the game crashed when I tried to spawn, so I decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

It appears the developer is still actively working on this mod, but considering it's been out since 2008, I'm thinking it's dead. However, as with all the other free-to-play FPS's I'm reviewing this summer, I'll be checking back in the fall or winter and updating my review if there are any significant changes.

This mod is honestly one of the best free games on steam to date.
It has everything from Teamplay, Tank Battles, Roleplay (Sometimes), Nukes, and a charm to it that few games have now adays.

This is basically a combination of
(Halo + Squad + Half-Life 2 + Source SDK + Team Fortress 2 + Counter-Strike)
All you have to do is look up all those games and image them as in one, that's pretty much what this is:

It is a Valve Multiplayer- Hl2 Modification, with awesome graphics and vehicles!
If a commander isn't good, it is as easy as kicking the commander, usually there's a great commander which means great team and fun.

There's only people on one server so far.

It is actually not dead, some russian even picked me up and thought me, what a proper tutorial would have done.
There is a server that still plays often, gameplay wise its a combination of an rts commander (role can be swapped easily with a vehicle) and soldiers on the ground that may use vehicles. Kind of like the old battlefield games.

Really recommended with a large group of friends since its a free mod for a game most people have.

PS; the achievements are totally broken and can't be obtained anymore.

A good game overall, but it has two SEVERE balance issues:

-Explosives are incredibly underpowered, and tanks are incredibly resistant to them, which makes combat against tanks extremely slow, especially since their armor regenerates on its own.

-Turrets are completely immune to bullets. This makes absolutely no sense, and can quickly lead to extremely one-sided battles, especially when someone places turrets near their enemy's base.

This standalone full-conversion mod is a Real-time Strategy (RTS) which utilizes the commander feature much like in the Battlefield™ series. The commander sits at the helm constructing buildings as with any RTS while his faction-members carry out squad-based tasks, and perform duties required of their class. Play as one of two factions with slightly differing attributes, but with a wide array of tactical vehicles, defenses, customizeable loadouts for your soldier and your soldiers vehicles. While bracing the harshness of few players as with any Source™ mod, this is a gem of it's genre that is really one of a kind. AND FREE!
