A game update has been released with the following fixes. Servers do not need to be updated.

  • Fix crash when downloading maps upon server connect on Mac and Linux.
  • Fix multiple mouse-related issues as commander on Mac and Linux.
  • Fix Authoring Tools such as Hammer crashing on launch.

We have just released Nuclear Dawn Update 7.1 with full support for OSX, Windows and Linux.

Hello everyone, we've got some news for you!

- You may not have been aware yet but this game supports Steam Workshop. In this Update we have made several improvements for this feature.
- Another major addition, is that Linux players can now play against Mac and Windows players.
- We have also fixed several language options !

Here is the complete list of fixes and additions for Nuclear Dawn update 7.1:

General:

- Enhanced Linux support for the game to allow Linux players to play vs Mac and Windows players.
- Fixed Russian and Czech Languages not being selectable in Steam game properties.
- Fixed minimap placement issues that would sometimes occur after resolution change.
- Fixed issue where commander could get stuck on a ladder.
- Fixed sonic turret fire range being slightly shorter than lock-on range.
- Whitelisted r_decals client convar by community request.
- Improved overall stability.

Community-created Content:
- Updated Workshop map instructions link.
- Added missing “Final” Hammer compile configuration.
- Fixed typo in hammer fgd file causing Empire wall and barrier issues.
- Fixed client crash when subscribed to Workshop file that no longer exists or has been made private.
- Fixed server crash that could occur when attempting to sync Workshop maps when Steam was down.
- Fixed uploading maps of size > 100mb to Workshop.
- Increased individual user Workshop storage quota to 1gb.
- Greatly improved client subscribed Workshop map sync time on game launch.
- HTTPS map downloads with self-signed certificates now work.
- Clients now automatically download game server Workshop-synced maps directly from Workshop on connect.
- Map support files (scripts, loading image, etc.) now get automatically”bspzipped” into the map before upload if not already in map.

Nuclear Dawn is the first game to offer a full FPS and RTS experience, within a single gameplay model, without crippling or diluting either side of the game.
As a soldier, explore war-torn post-apocalyptic landscapes, modelled on modern cities, and take the fight to your enemies as armoured, assault or stealth infantry, using various weapons across ten distinct load-outs to accomplish your objectives. The first person shooter action in Nuclear Dawn is hard, fast and unforgiving, with weapons that rely on skill and tactics more than on twitch reflexes and map memorization.
Then, take Nuclear Dawn above the action, and play as the commander. Organize your fellow players in squads, and assign them to tactical objectives. Plan the resource routes for your army, and production of your structures for forward deployment. Exploit the terrain and resource point locations to block your enemies’ advance, and crush their plans in an iron fist. Research and implement new technologies to give your soldiers the edge on the battlefield, and set up forward bases to lead the assault on your enemies, with a full complement of defensive and offensive structures to choose from, to build your perfect fortress.

  • Two factions: The Empire and the Consortium have completely separate base-building paradigms.

I've been playing this game for a little over 3 years now and have finally decided to write a review... Most games- if you play them long enough- get boring and tiresome. The people I play with weekly and most of the time daily, have played totals of thousands of hours and yet continue to play weekly/daily. This is because there really can't ever be a round in ND thats the same as another. Each team won't ever be exactly the same, the commanders won't usually be the same, and how the players play in each map will always be different so that you really aren't just going through the motions after hours and hours of gameplay. I know that myself and at least 100-150 other dedicated core players feel the same way. The other reviews of this game that I see are from people who really havent played it all that much and have just taken their first look FPS and RTS aspects. A lot of what they say is correct.. There are definitely areas of ND that need work, and since theres no real developer working on it not much can change.

However, even though there is no actual developer, ND is constantly being improved and tweaked to make gameplay better. This is because of server managers and testers in the community itself who have fixed glitches, improved team balancing, made mods, and have organized ND soooooo much in the past 2 years. Nuclear Dawn was on a downswing and playercounts were at an all time low, but now that there are scheduled events, groups, and stats, things are getting better fast!

So to people who say Nuclear Dawn is dying: It WAS dying, now its only getting better little by little. I highly recommend this game and encourage people to give it a fair chance. Join the group "ND Battles" for scheduled formal and casual events. I truly love this game and will never stop playing it!

Ive put many hours into this game now, and I can honestly say its one the best, if not THE best game Ive ever purchased through steam.

The gameplays surprisingly unique feeling, controls are usually quite tight, and even when losing a lot of battles a lot of fun can still be had.

True enough the game is not without bugs (and then some), but I would still give it 10/10 despite them, and frankly its a lot better than It was. I simply cannot recommend this game highly enough to people.

It's unfortunate to see Nuclear Dawn suffer from simple errors, as underneath these flaws is an above-average game with some new, interesting ideas at its core. If you're playing with friends or get lucky with a random server, it can be a lot of fun - but often that's not the case and as a result Nuclear Dawn doesn't quite earn the recommendation it's otherwise capable of receiving.It could do with a practice mode or some proper tutorials to introduce newcomers to the commander mode, but if you're up for a challenge or find a decent server, Nuclear Dawn is an exciting take on a genre that's usually lacking new ideas.Nuclear Dawn is a game that can reach great things if it was put together more coherently.

This game is a combination between RTS (Commander) and FPS (Foot soldiers) that features two factions, multiple classes with multiple layouts which lead to different playstyles, leveling (upgrades), an incredible amount of huge maps with multiple layers and nice little details and many more features.

For the commander it's a RTS. He can build stuff, e.g. walls to protect his comrades from bullets or turrets that support them on the battlefield.

The goal for both teams is to secure points of interest that generate resources for the team and ultimately lead to the destruction of the enemy base.

I could go on and on, but I know that nobody will ever read this, so ...

I highly recommend this game. It's a shame I've never heard about this awesome game until a few weeks ago. It's one of the best Multiplayer/Tactical-FPS I've ever played, competiting only with Natural Selection 2 I guess.

コマンダーがRTS視点中心、それ以外の兵士がFPSで、拠点を展開しながら資源地点を奪い合い、相手の基地を破壊するゲーム。コマンダーは面白いのだが、兵士の側はかなり地味というか大味というか、競技向けで本格的にチーム戦をするのにはともかく、野良で気軽にやろうというゲームではないのは確か。兵士のクラスがかなり極端な役割分担となっていたり、前述したRTSめいたシステムなど、要素としては面白いのだが…とはいえ、2014年1月現在ほぼ無人。bot入りのサーバーはあるが、botのAIが陳腐なためやる意味は無い。
