You are a Runner called Faith and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story.

Mirror's Edge™ delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith's world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous.

Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city you will learn how to run. From the makers of the groundbreaking Battlefield franchise, Mirror's Edge is an action-adventure experience unlike any other.

Mirrors Edge

The Great Game That Nobody Bought

Before I start, ignore how long I have played this game. I mainly played this offline.

Mirrors Edge is a first person parkour game with some shooting elements. All combined highlights Faith's (the main character) trip through this beautiful city. The small details in the graphics, such as motion blur and even the dust particles when you land after a massive jump make this experience feel real at times. Highly recommended for fans of parkour based gameplay with the occasional fast paced, reflex combat.

Also this is one of the very few first person games where you can acually see your feet as well as your arms. Mirrors Edge is also a fantastic game because it still looks good even if you don't have a gaming PC to run it. Futhermore it doesn't take up that much space on your computer. (around 7 gigs or so)

The only downside to this game is that it is a bit too short (around 6 hours). Keep in mind this is pretty much the only downside to this game.

Verdict
9/10

I waited almost 3 years to play this due to hardware limitations. I was not disappointed. Loved the story, game mechanics, and Faith. Eagerly awaiting Mirror's Edge 2.

This is one of those unique games. Parkour, phenomenal music, great views, what more do you want? The atmosphere of the game and the music takes you somewhere else. You can stand on the roof of a skyscraper staring at the broken city. Or to break through the crowds of cops straight ahead. You can feel free. Definitely worth a play.

kind of a puzzle platformer, you try to find the way through levels. the right method is always easy once you find it but the game forces you to figure it out while being shot at which is great fun as it turns out.

There is combat and it's annoying. Running is the fun part. There is a fun way to do the combat while using your running moves but it is really difficult, Usually I just shot the enemies so that I could go back to running.

Sometimes though running and fighting combine and it's BRILLIANT, Like Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes: Slide... Kick!... incapacitate... wall run.. Kick... disarm.... result? three cops knocked out, one broken nose, one stolen donut, capacity to shoot at main character greatly diminished.

It's one of the most original FPS that came out, won awards for its originality but it didn't sell that good.
The game consist on parkour and you will die a couple of times but the view and adreneline it's just awesome.
I know you wont like the next bit, but I love playing this game more than Skyrim. I may have more hours on Skyrim but the game feels to big, yes that's the point, but, this game when you are mid-air it's just beautiful and vivid.

PS: Skyrim it's also realy realy good but EA did something good, and we should appriciate this due to the things they are doing to us (The Sims 4 is worst than the 3 and we have to buy the stuff that was for free). Wait for the one thats comming up with a open world.

If Mirror's Edge was a combat game, it would be a mediocre game.

If Mirror's Edge was a First Person Shooter, it would be a terrible game.

If Mirror's Edge was a game that required me to buy Day 1 DLC and get a Premium membership just to play it, then I would facepalm so hard.

If Mirror's Edge was a game that has a very relaxing soundtrack that flows perfectly with what is going on, has graphics that are easy to the eye and are unique, and is emphasized on giving a parkour experience that has a mix of an ambient and adrenaline pumping feeling that no other game has done before, and you are interested in these features...

Then you know what you have to do now.

Running and trying not to get caught: Mirror’s Edge was a fresh take on the FPS genre, and it excels at it. Great gameplay coupled with phenomenal art direction – a futuristic setting that’s believable.

Mirror's Edge was developed by DICE and released in 2010. Unlike other DICE games of that time, Mirror's Edge wasn't using the advanced Frostbite engine, instead they went with Unreal Engine 3.

There is no game like it. The parkour is simply amazing here. You see, there is no run button, instead your character simply builds up speed over time. I don't know, but it kind of feels so natural. And that feeling when you complete so obstacle without ever stopping feels so epic. DICE really managed to combine cinematic feel(nope, i don't mean 30 fps) and gameplay together, in this one. I wouldn't mind for a open world though.

There is also a bit of FPS in this game. You can never hold on to a gun or reload it. You have attack the enemy to get the gun. Its easier said than done though. The game wants you to be tactical, even if you attack an enemy that only had a pistol, he will still gun you down if you just run out in the open to him like that. You have to use cover, pick the ones that are separated from the rest etc.

The gameplay component of the game, whether it's parkour or shootouts is simply amazing here. DICE did a terrific job.

The game also has nice use of aesthetics. Funny thing, it uses primary colors mixed with white for the most part. It's so simplistic, yet so gorgeous. And there is also an amazing main theme, by Lisa Miskovsky.

Unfortunately this game suffers from 2 problems.
First is the length. It will take you about 4 hrs to complete it. I guess EA thought of it as an experiment project?

Second is the story. Written by Rhianna Pratchett. Don't want to sound like an *sshole here, but she needs to go. That woman ruined way too many games, still amazed how people still hire her.
There are also those terrible animated cutscenes between the levels. Clearly shows the limited budget EA has given.

Usually i dismiss these 4 hrs long games. Most of them offer no originality and are overpriced. But due to unique nature of Mirror's Edge i will have to recommend it. As i said, there is no game like it.

The only game that has ever given me motion sickness and made me feel how my parents must feel when they handle a pad with two analog sticks after the last experience they had was a NES pad.

IT'S PRETTY COOL THOUGH

In general terms it is a good game, you don't need to master the movements to enjoy it, but the fluency will be better if you do. Good: It gives the feeling of alternative routes, I never feel like one-track. Bad: Sometimes is not possible to avoid figth. Things to improve: I will include some "messenger" missions before the action starts, it will increase how much you go into the plot. The figth is terrible, sometimes your only chance is to run and try to get a weapom, and once you have it... it is extremely easy to kill everybody, a little bit unvalance on this side.
