About This Game

This is one of those unique games. Parkour, phenomenal music, great views, what more do you want? The atmosphere of the game and the music takes you somewhere else. You can stand on the roof of a skyscraper staring at the broken city. Or to break through the crowds of cops straight ahead. You can feel free. Definitely worth a play.

Mirror's Edge was developed by DICE and released in 2010.

There is no game like it. The parkour is simply amazing here. You see, there is no run button, instead your character simply builds up speed over time. I don't know, but it kind of feels so natural. And that feeling when you complete so obstacle without ever stopping feels so epic. DICE really managed to combine cinematic feel and gameplay together, in this one. I wouldn't mind for a open world though.

There is also a bit of FPS in this game. You can never hold on to a gun or reload it. You have attack the enemy to get the gun. Its easier said than done though. The game wants you to be tactical, even if you attack an enemy that only had a pistol, he will still gun you down if you just run out in the open to him like that. You have to use cover, pick the ones that are separated from the rest etc.

The gameplay component of the game, whether it's parkour or shootouts is simply amazing here. DICE did a terrific job.

The game also has nice use of aesthetics. Funny thing, it uses primary colors mixed with white for the most part. It's so simplistic, yet so gorgeous. And there is also an amazing main theme, by Lisa Miskovsky.

Unfortunately this game suffers from 2 problems.
First is the length. It will take you about 4 hrs to complete it. I guess EA thought of it as an experiment project?

Second is the story. Written by Rhianna Pratchett. Don't want to sound like an *sshole here, but she needs to go. That woman ruined way too many games, still amazed how people still hire her.
There are also those terrible animated cutscenes between the levels. Clearly shows the limited budget EA has given.

Usually i dismiss these 4 hrs long games. Most of them offer no originality and are overpriced. But due to unique nature of Mirror's Edge i will have to recommend it. As i said, there is no game like it.

Running and trying not to get caught: Mirror’s Edge was a fresh take on the FPS genre, and it excels at it. Great gameplay coupled with phenomenal art direction – a futuristic setting that’s believable.

A very nice game, with a quite innovative concept.
A race/plate form game is not a common sight, so I can only say "GO" !

At the current price of €10, get it. It's about an 8 hour long game, with fun free flowing movement. The combat is sub par and feels like it was put in because the publisher wanted it in.

So, people who have never played this game, do it. You will not regret it.

The City. A marvel of modern technology and science. Skyscrapers rise into the air everywhere.
While it is a beautiful sight, the City can be a dangerous place for some individuals.

In Mirrors Edge, you take the role of a Runner called Faith who's sister has been framed of a murder that she didn't commit, and you are being chased by the police, also known as 'Blues' by the Runners.

Mirrors Edge lets you preform wall-runs. death-defying leaps across buildings and vaults over objects. The graphics for Mirrors Edge are magnificient. Sometimes I just wanted to be able to stop and just soak it all in.

While the game has a very basic art style - mostly white and red with the occasional blue, orange or green - this tends to help the player focus on intense moments of action. The hud is not cluttered at all, as it only comprises of a small dot in the middle of screen, which is used for aiming weapons.

Mirrors Edge doesn't focus on combat and instead focuses on movement throughout the enviroment, which is why I would extremely recommend that you play this. 9/10

A First-Person runner, quite an original endeavour, and quite an enjoyable experience.

Nice to see an original hero(ine) too...

Sequel will probably not be as good...

From the (good) original concept, great gameplay, tight controls, good characters, and fantastic music, I can easily say this game is one of my personal favorites. The only reason I don't give it a even higher rating is because it is too short. (It's only about 3 hours in length.)

Pros:
-Good gameplay.
-Lots of fun.
-Good character design.
-Story is decent.

Cons:
-A playthrough only lasts about 3 hours.
-Not much replay value.

Mirror's Edge is not a great game, but it is one that is so unique and interesting, that it works despite its flaws. First person parkour in a fascist society, utilizing colour coding for optimum travel routes... it's certainly worth the effort!

A game like Mirrors Edge offers many amazing sensations and feelings. Here are a few things Mirrors Edge will make you feel during your first playthrough: This is so beautiful! Where the hell do I go?! What the hell am I supposed to do?! Did I just do that?! Why isnt there more?! The reason I recommend Mirrors Edge is for those times where it leaves you wondering how you did a smooth combo of combat and parkour skills faster than you could ever imagine. Mirrors Edge will change the way you look at parkour games, leaving you hungry for more of the many frustrating and amazing emotions that come from it. A well earned 10/10.

Mirror's Edge, 5 years from its PC release still looks pretty impressive, even by todays standards. The game world is gorgeous and makes me feel pretty chill (when I'm not in the midst of a fighting sequence). The controls are simple, clean and easy to grasp, and the level design is creative. I especially enjoyed how puzzles could have multiple routes to their solutions, and how the route to the end point of a level wasn't immediately obvious because of this. There is also a rather nice soundtrack to accompany the game, and it fits the environment well. The story unfolds well enough, though for me the story took the back seat to the gameplay experience. The free running style, the jumping and the problem solving involved in completing levels was very satisfying. This isn't to say it was a bad story at all, it engaged me just fine, but it was perhaps one of the less strong aspects of the game. The game wasn't particularly long, but I feel this may work in its favour. There is the risk of challenges becoming frustratingly difficult/repetitive, especially when there isn't a particularly impressive story to drive it. I feel it ended at just the right time and the ending was executed well.

Overall, I found Mirror's Edge to be a challenging, visually impressive game whose key selling point is the game mechanics. The parkour system is pretty good especially for it's time, and it just feels fun when you're running and jumping and executing the sequences. If Mirror's Edge 2 takes these elements forward and builds on them using todays technology, it should hopefully be a very good game, much like its predecessor.

One of the best Gaming experiences I've ever had. The game play is immersive, the sound track is amazing and the story isn't that bad. Most people say that Mirror's Edge is Short, but It ends before the gameplay gets repetitive. Definitely worth getting.

This game was one of those rare gems that flew under the radar of the mainstream audience. A vast departure from what we've expected from DICE, this game featured some of the most unique visuals i've ever seen. It may be, what, 5 years old, but still holds a place as one of the most unique looking games ever with it's trippy color scheme and the awesome Unreal Engine 3 powering it.

Parkour, featuring shooting elements, highlight Faith's trip through this beautiful city. The small details in the graphics, such as motion blur and even the dust particles when you land after a massive jump make this experience feel real at times. It's made me wish i had the ability to do stunts as this.

Engaging gameplay, cool puzzles, and oh, the Atrium.........neat game and cant wait for the sequel.

9/10
