Better than No Man's Sky.

In all seriousness this is a really fun game, however, my only problem with this game is that it did not know what it wanted to be. It was a collecting game, then a base building game, then a combat game, then a collecting game again. It constantly changed the gameplay and if you didn't enjoy collecting for example, then you probably wouldn't enjoy 1 or 2 of the stages but would like the rest.

Overall 8/10 lots of good laughs and will keep you entertained for hours.

I am currently on my 8th playthrough...

Anyway, I'm actually going to review each stage as a seperate game (They certainly play like them!)

Cell: It's kinda fun, but only once you amass a whole bunch of DNA and just cover your cell with mouths (ANYTHING THAT I TOUCH SHALL BE CONSUMED!) The graphics are a bit lackluster, and most of the cell designs are unimaginative. Nothing more exciting then taking on a giant blob with 6 eyes! (basically every single design)

Graphics: 5/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Creativity: 4/10

Creature: This was one of the stages I didn't like. Basically run here, sing and dance or charge and bite, then repeat over and over again until the end of the stage (BORING!) The graphics were actually quite impressive in this stage, and I think this one had the best graphics of all the other stages! (Little hint: At the end of the creature stage, mate and mess around with your creature. THIS WILL BE YOUR LAST CHANCE TO UPDATE YOUR CREATURE!) The designs are great here! A big step up from the cell stage.

Graphics: 8/10
Gameplay: 3/10
Creativity: 8/10

Tribal: Here we go. This was the other stage I didn't like. Basically, for a aggresive playthrough, arm all your villagers with throwing spears and send them charging at the enemy. Whenever they start getting attacked by the enemy, mash 3 and watch as they run away, then continue throwing spears at the enemy basically unharmed. For a passive playthrough watch as you play a unfun minigame with instruments for a bunch of ungrateful villagers. Graphics need improving here, and the designs are once again, uncreative.

Graphics: 5/10
Gameplay: 5/10
Creativity: 4/10

Civilisation: My personal favourite stage. You have three choices here: Religious (Passive), Economic (Middle ground), and Military (Aggresive). As religious, (the most boring one) find a city with the lowest happiness and send all your vehicles to convert it. Then hope it's a military/economic city, then pick the other one and use their tactics instead. RELIGIOUS SUCKS! For economic, you mainly need to focus on relations. Set up trade routes, admire other civilisations wide tracts of land, and laugh in there faces when you buy out there entire military when the send it at you and use their own units ti destroy their own city. For military, amass a giant army, capture an enemy city, make it military, produce as many units as that city can make, then capture another city and repeat. Once you reach planes, dismiss all of your units and replace them with planes. CONGRATULATIONS! YOU WON! Graphics are basically the same as the tribal stage and the designs are ALL YOURS! Apart from the houses. Good work there Maxis.

Graphics: 5/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Creativity: 7/10

Space: I can't say much here, my saves keep corrupting whenever I get to this stage. I'm just going to give scores for the 20 minutes of gameplay in the space age. This is the best stage to find some awesome creations by Maxis.

Graphics: 5/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Creativity: 10/10

Overall: 94/150

Buy in sale if you can, but if you can't, buy it anyway! It's worth it!

I played this game endlessly before I bought it on Steam, and clearly I think it's one of the best. If you don't have this game, I am going to give you the bias opinion that you need to own it and at least try it.

First off, my hours spent playing this game do NOT represent my true hours in this game. I've probably got thousands of hours in since release.

I did however, recently come back to it after perhaps a year off.

Went from cell stage all the way to space stage. Conquered a few systems, allied with a few more. Played God on a few others.
Advanced to the center of the galaxy, and annoyed one of my previous stages in that area. Proceeded to go to war with them... completely forgetting that I waged war with, and defeated the Grox with that Empire.

Naturally, I got absolutely obliterated.

10/10, would lose a war with myself again.

Aight so.

ya start off as a meteor crashin down harder than drama alert and somehow... a little sperm cell pops out. you is now that sperm cell and you is gonna eat stuff until you decide, " HEW... im gonna grow some lungs legs and all features possible for a creature to live and breath on land" ~sperm cell stage

Reet so now yav got ya legs and yee wanna start either killin everything in sight, or f***in dancin around wif some ♥♥♥♥♥ shaped... thing. then ya ganna get ditched by ya scwod and yer gonna have to find a new place to live for nee reason. ya gonna move cribs 3 times before ya can moove on and ya gonna look more demented each time ya hach oot an egg becuz thats how evolution works. ~fun ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ creaure stage

now ya gonna pick up a stick and say "HEW... Ima make this crib LIT" so ya then gonna start breaking tha rulz and set the place ablaze and start making some fishin spears and axes and all that fun stuff so you can go and make some friends with the other tribes but that aint ganna werk cos half of them alredy hate you cos you used code KEEM to get yersel a discount on garden gnomes ~the hard stage

tribal stage but with first world problems like being hated by north korea~the stage that the devs got bored on

Now yav got a rocket ship garn and yer off into space. yer gonna find this stage propa kool but arnly if ya pick up the galactic adventures pack off a steam summer sale cos that means ya can still use yer little dude ya made back in the 'im gonna spend 6 hours playing with the creature creator' stage. then ya ganna meet the evil space bunnies and only you candecide your fate from there...

10/10 would spend 30 hours messing around with legs again

Spore is a brilliant, mysterious galaxy, full of mystery and an endless range of creatures. xD
