About This Game

From Single Cell to Galactic God, evolve your creature in a universe of your own creations.
Play through Spore's five evolutionary stages: Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilization, and Space. Each stage has its own unique style, challenges, and goals. What you do with your universe is up to you.
Spore gives you a variety of powerful yet easy-to-use creation tools so you can create every aspect of your universe: creatures, vehicles, buildings, and even starships. While Spore is a single-player game, your creations are automatically shared with other players providing a limitless number of worlds to explore and play.

  • EVOLVE Your Creature through Five Stages — It's survival of the funnest as your choices reverberate through generations and ultimately decide the fate of your civilization.
  • EXPLORE Other Players' Galaxies — Will your creature rule the universe, or will your beloved planet be blasted to smithereens by a superior alien race?

I wish I had gotten this game years ago! If you haven;t gotten it yet, you should get it now!!!

Funny as hell, cute, but lots of killing, allying with other creatures, killing and eating whatever you choose. Like meat, meat and more mEAT? Choose Carnivore. Vegan? Choose Herbivore. Not pickky? Choose Omnivore. Pizza with everything!

Silly, funny, FUN and I give it 20/10 for just plain insanity and wackiness. :D

Just got it, need to play it more! And wish I had gotten it sooner.

Frequent crashes plague the Steam version. For me at least, and it's impossible to log into your Origin account without doing a weird workaround.

This game, along with Fable, are probably the two most over hyped and underwhelming disappointments in gaming history. The amount of crap that was promised for this game is astounding as is the direction they finally went with when it came to gameplay.

It's not bad really though despite those changes...just disappointing when you watched all of the previews and early announcements for it...part of the reason why I don't watch those types of things anymore.

The game is incredibly simple to understand and has an easy to use creation system in place that allows you to make your own city structures, space ships, planes, boats, land vehicles, and creatures as well as the ability to sculp planets when you've got a significant chunk of time invested into the game.

I played this for countless hours back before the days of Origin and after playing it again recently, even with the addition of the creepy/cute pack and the galactic adventures, not much has changed, and really, those two expansions (if they can even be called that) are just a joke and don't do anything to really enhance the gameplay at all for the amount of money they are asking.

Graphics still hold up even all these years later and the game can be addicting at times, but overall this game is lacking any real depth. At most you'll spend about 15 - 30 minutes in the cell stage, and a few hours in the rest until you get to the space exploration stage where you'll just ♥♥♥♥ away your time.

I can't recommend the game unless you get it during the sale, but even then it's a maybe as will all games by EA it's massively overpriced considering how long it's been out.

Can count on it to always crash at some critical juncture before you save, eventually crash so often that you have to wipe it and start over in order to get it to stop crashing mere moments after you load a save (The crashes get more frequent the more I create during the space level), and just getting started is a massive hassle.

When I got the game and made my account, it had an "unknown error". Their websites only mention of that is if you use the word "spore" in your user info. Which I had not. So I spend the next 40+ min trying to get someone on their webchat. Then the next 20 trying to get someoen on the phone. Then I had to repeat my CD one letter/number at a time, repeat it, repeat it, "no B as in Bob not P as in Pop", try and hear it repeated back to me to confirm from a guy with the thickest Indan accent ever, and then FINALLY I could log in (thanks guy, sorry you work for such a terrible company!). It seems the issue is they just plain screw up ativation of the product key.

I get half way into the second level and it crashed already.

If thats acceptable experiance to, you, go ahead and buy it. It IS fun, WHEN it actually works..

*THE WEIRDNESS! *I AM... not affected at all. *i was weird from my first breath. *still, i absolutely love this game because i can take out all my rage on little pixelated creatures that are the physical embodiment of ugliness (no offence. *you creators out there probably didn't mean to make super ugly creatures, but you did, soooo...).

This game is cute and all, and sometimes fun (when you figure out something new); with that said, the tribe stage is a game-breaker. Just hop on Google (tribe stage spore sucks) and you will see why. Cannot recommend this game as it is only partly fun/useful. The fun is making a creature, and well, that is a little part of the game.

Great game! (Spoiler Alert!) As you start out in the sea of some planet that you chose, you eat others and things found in the waters to eventually become a land animal. As you progress you get to create your own creature and make civilization. Others advance with you to become an enemy or an ally. You then take over the planet and create your first space ship to explore space, try taking other planets, and going into war with other colonies on other planets just because you want to. 10/10

Even though this is an older game it is still a good game. It does require people to be creative. I highly recommend this game if you have young kids, siblings, or just have some free time on your hands.

Game is amazing! I have been playing this game since I was around 10 years old.
Even now it's still got good graphics (I think they are amazing, even now they are still good)

9/10. I take 1 off just because I think they could have improved parts of the game, mainly in the civilization stage, it is a bit too easy.

This was one of my first games on steam, and I still play it. I have loved everything about this, from the cell stage to the space age, and any other gamer will say the same. I highly recommend it. The graphics aren't great, but somehow that just adds to the feel of evolving your creature, giving it everything it needs to survive and become sentient. Whether you like shooters, RPGs, MMOs, Sandboxes, Indies or just a casual gamer, YOU NEED TO GET THIS GAME. so stop reading this reveiw, thinking about whether to spend 20.00 USD on something you won't play, AND BUY IT. FULL STOP. PERIOD. THE BUY BUTTON IS AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE, NOT DOWN HERE.

Spore is a great game. I've been playing for over 24 hours now in total across Spore and Spore: Galactic Adventures. You start off as a cell, evolve into higher level species and eventually become a spacefaring civilization. I've learned a few different things about the game that I feel newer players could have use of knowing.

  • Evolve your creature to max in the creature stage if you plan on playing with Galactic Adventures. You will be using creature stage abilities a lot here, better make sure that it becomes as easy as possible for you.
  • Save often. Spore crashes occasionally, and with the immersiveness of the game, it's easy to forget to save. Spore does NOT have auto-save functionality.
  • One more thing that a lot of people miss: BACK UP YOUR SPORE DATA FOLDERS! I had the game suddenly delete all my progress in Spore without any warning. I don't know the programming logic that would result in such a thing happening, but when I launched Spore yesterday, I was greeted with the main menu with no saves in it. Luckily I already had an older backup of the data as I copied it for playing on another computer once, but I've lost a lot of progress.

Spore data folders may be found at
%appdata%\Spore
as well as "My Spore Creatures" in your Documents folder. Back them up regularly.
