Info over het spel

Disciples II: Gallean's Return is a compilation edition that includes the base game, Disciples II: Dark Prophecy, plus the two standalone expansions Disciples II: Guardians of the Light and Disciples II: Servants of the Dark.

Disciples II: Guardians of the Light is a stand-alone expansion that lets you dive into the fantastical world of Disciples II as either the Empire or the Mountain Clans.

The Empire is decaying from within as self-proclaimed rulers struggle for control of the now vacant throne while a cruel Inquisition sweeps across the human lands, causing rebellion and misery. Meanwhile the Clans, recovering from their near-destruction, begin to reunite their tribes. They have received divine instructions and now seek to uncover an ancient ritual that will let them communicate with their god, Wotan.

Disciples II: Servants of the Dark is a stand-alone expansion that brings you into the never-ending quest for supremacy as either the Undead Hordes or the Legions of the Damned.

On the dark side, the Legions of the Damned enact a plan to spread Bethrezen’s plague across Nevendaar. They sense the threat brought about by the rebirth of the Elven god and will stop at nothing to steal this power for their own purposes. Perhaps most pivotal to the conflict, however, is Mortis and her army of Undead Hordes. After all, the rebirth of her husband Gallean was her doing. He had rejected her for what she had become, a twisted, heartless beast. Now she would teach her mate a lesson... one that would scar his people for eternity...

Still completely broken. Picked it up a few sales back. Played it in college years ago, and I was so excited to play again. But even after scouring forums across the internet the best I could get out of it was unplayable lag and the worst was total operating system crash. I keep trying to no avail. Don't spend your hard-earned $1.62 until it's been fixed.

This refers to Windows 8.1

This would most likely be a pointless purchase since the game is broken. Almost every discussion I've seen is about the game being completely unfixable. Trying to run with Compatibility Mode won't work, so don't think that it may be an option either. For the record - this is an issue with Steam's version of the game, so you can maybe get it elsewhere and have it work.

Great game. Very similar to HoMM3 but your parties consist of a more traditional hero setup as opposed to numbers of troops. Playing it on windows 8.1 I managed to get it to work perfectly. If you get "failed to initialize" set it to XP service pack 2 in compatibility and reduce the resolution in configuration. If you have lag then turn on D3D.

Bought it and played it for 8 hours straight. Great stuff, similar to HOMM III. (Starting it in the 1024x768 resolution gets rid of the "Can't initialize" error. I had no other issues with the game and I can certainly say that it is not a broken version like some of the users said about it.) The only downside is that much like HOMM III, the gameplay is a huge timesink so prepare to notice a couple of hours flying by if you start playing it.

Great classic of turn-based goodness! Still is amazing to playthrough; aged pretty well compared to other old games.
Great art design, good ambient tunes and simple yet engrossing game mechanic. It's also quite challenging on higher difficulties, and the average length of a game is pretty similar to a medium game of Heroes 3/4.

Graphics are typical for the year, consisting of pre-rendered assets converted into 2D animated sprites. It's very similar to Heroes 4 in that department.

It's a shame that there was no proper follow up to this old gem. Highly recommend this game over the 3rd iteration.
