About This Game

Abe's peaceful retirement was shattered when visited by a vision from the Mudokon Spirit Guides. Abe™ learned the Magog Cartel was mining Necrum, the sacred Mudokon city of the dead, to collect bones to make super-addictive SoulStorm Brew.

After freeing the Mudokon spirits imprisoned in the Mudanchee and Mudomo Vaults, Abe gained scary powers from the Spirit Guides, including the ability to heal his Mudokon friends of Soul-Storm addiction, and the power to turn invisible. Infiltrating the transportation hub of FeeCo Depot, and using explosive farts to survive adventures at the Slig Barracks and Bonewerks, Abe broke into SoulStorm Brewery.

There Abe learned the truth behind the secret ingredient of SoulStorm Brew . . . just before blasting the place to atoms with the combined power of the sobered-up Mudokon he'd rescued. Then Abe joined his brew-addled pals at Alf's Rehab & Tea to take the cure - the journey of a lifetime starts with one step. Or is it twelve?

✔ Arguably the most beautiful platformer game of all time. Pure art
✔ As atmospheric as a game can get
✔ 1998 cinematic videos that most modern games can't hold a candle to (they reportedly cost around $2 million to develop)
✔ Many different locations
✔ Challenging and unique

× For those who care: low resolution

Step 1: Buy this game because it is super cheap and got crazy good reviews.
Step 2: Uninstall after a half hour because of the terribly bad resolution and zero controller support.

Not only is this a fantastic game, an instant 10/10, the fact that it costs only £2 makes it one of the best value-for-money games I've ever seen on Steam, at least not including sales. It took me 20 hours to complete this game, so that's £1 per 10 hours.
The game itself is a classic, growing on what made Abe's Oddysee so great, and while I think Exoddus lacks the atmosphere that made the original so enjoyable, the gameplay itself is much more varied (though I still prefer Oddysee). The cutscenes are better, the music is more complex (if not a tad generic), there are more places and environments to see, and there are more types of puzzles based on the emotion system with the Mudokons. They can be angry, depressed, wired (in other words happy), sick, and blind. This means a lot more is explored as to how the Mudokons interact with you, and especially trying to handle the wired Mudokons running about with enemies, bombs and motion sensors around can get very tense.
You can also autosave, another improvement from Oddysee that makes the game much less frustrating.
I have 2 complaints, however; the first being there are a few ridiculous chase sections that force you to duck and react quickly with a movement system not internded for fast-paced action, rather slow-moving stealth. The game also overstays it's welcome a bit, getting dragged out for a few more hours than it really needed to last.
Speaking of stealth, once again every single enemy can make your palms sweat all over your controller, especially if you have some blind Mudokons you have to escort.
One more thing; the graphics, for 1998, are amazing. I found myself stopping and gazing at some of the fantastically detailed backdrops of places like Necrum and the Soulstorm Brewery. It's dark and beautifully rendered.

Anyway, get the game now. It's bloody great.

How to do a sequel right! This game takes what was already amazing in Oddworld Inhabitants' first amazing game, "Oddworld: Abes Oddysee" and improved upon them threefold, such as being able to chant creatures other than sligs, like Scrabs, Paramites and Glukkons. Words cannot explain how great the puzzle solving in this game is. Every single screen in this game is memorable, just as the first game, and is an amazing platformer. Not just out of nostalgia, but at a critical game-making point of view, I give this game a 10/10.

Could have been as good as Oddysee but it get's dragged out for a bit too long, overall the gameplay is better though just leaves a sour taste since the last few hours of the game are so monotonous.

Such an awesome game. I got this game originally on CD when I was about 11 and I finally completed it a few weeks ago! It's still as awesome as it was it back then.

Great game!
Takes Abe's Oddysee and adds much needed features (All ya + quicksave), introduces new characters and tells a great story that is way longer than Oddysee.

The low locked resolution can be solved with a simple DDHack

Loved the game on the PS1, still love the game now. If you wanna re-live this classic, buy the game.
That being said, I do have a problem with this port.
The resolution is fine as this was made for small monitors at the time, but the controls are slow to respond and that's problematic for when the goose chases occur, which I feel it hurts this game.

I'll leave this as a positive because of the memories and feels, but if there was a fix with the controls, it'll be a lot better.
Cheers for reading!

Tried rescuing 3 slaves from working in a room filled with laughing gas.
Had to slap sense into them to shut them up.
One didnt shut up and woke the sleeping guard.
Guard shoots us all while he still laughs.

10/10 would slap a slave again

This game is not a classical game, this game is not a masterpiece, and this game surely is nothing special. Because all of these words can describe something. This game is undescribable. Wait it isn't since you can explain undescribable. Let's just say buy it!!

10 reasons why you should buy Oddworld: Abe's Exodus

1. Best FMV cutscenes, or for that matter, any kind of cutscenes, in video games (except maybe the other Oddworld cutscenes)
2. GameSpeak allows you to talk to your Mudokon buddies, making for some ingenious puzzles
3. The platforming is great
4. You can possess the enemies and wreck their s**t
5. It's funny as s**t
6. The oddness is immense and just great
7. The story is great
8. The GameSpeak was expanded from the 1st game to the creatures you can possess, allowing for even more puzzles
9. It's only $2.50
10. YOU CAN POSSESS YOUR OWN F**KING FARTS!

So buy this game.

Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus is a landmark game, and worthy sequel to the original Abe's Oddysee.

Even in its now-limited screen resolution, the strong visual design of Abe's Exoddus shines through. Don't expect to run this game at your native resolution (unless you never upgraded beyond 800x600 - in which case, you're in luck!), but do expect the following: some fantastic and challenging platforming gameplay; a vast number of gorgeous levels interwoven with an interesting, dark and downright odd narrative; some brilliant music which changes dynamically depending on the events taking place; and finally, some fiendish puzzles which make use of Abe's talent for posession and the use of GameSpeak - a system by which you can instruct other characters to whatever ends you desire, be it salvation or something more nefarious.

If you've played it before, there's no better time to return to the original Oddworld titles before enjoying the delights of the HD Remake, New N' Tasty, which recreates the events of the original game in a modern game engine and is "coming soon". If you're new to the series, don't be put off by the age or initial difficulty curve. Exoddus has a quick save system, so you'll never lose progress as long as you're diligent. A must-play!

You've got to understand... I picked up this $2.49 game for 4 reasons:

1. Its cheap as
2. Its an ultimate classic (ps1)
3. Its only 500 mb download.
4. Suspensive. In fact so suspensive you'll need to put a bowl under your seat or something.

If your computer runs on poos and you feel left out, then get it or wait till it goes on sale and pick it up for 1.99!
