About This Game

Selected by the fickle finger of fate, Abe™, floor-waxer first class for RuptureFarms, was catapulted into a life of adventure when he overheard plans by his boss, Molluck the Glukkon™, to turn Abe and his fellow Mudokons into Tasty Treats as part of a last-ditch effort to rescue Molluck's failing meat-packing empire.
During his escape from RuptureFarms, Abe received a vision from the mysterious Big Face, showing Abe that he must not only rescue his fellow Mudokons, but also protect all of Oddworld's creatures from the predatory Magog Cartel.
After completing arduous Temple trials, and journeying across a wasteland with his friend Elum, Abe was granted the awesome power of the Shrykull. Returning to RuptureFarms, Abe destroyed the foul slaughterhouse, rescued his buddies, and brought down some righteous lightning on top of Molluck's pointy head.

I played this as a kid, but never truly finished ... couldn't remember why, so I thought to get it and play it again just for nostalgia sake. Ah yes, that's right, now I remember why I didn't enjoy this as a kid. For a game that has a lot of platforming, the controls are delayed and imprecise. But I still tremendously enjoy the game's atmosphere, story, SFX and voice acting! Even by today standards its holding up, but I'm not sure about the "comedy" route the Oddworld series took. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=672134391 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=672076032

Much better than the remake in pretty much every single way and yes this includes the visuals. I just wish Gaben flew down from the Kingdom of Heaven and gave me a special achievement on Steam and a pat on the head, telling me how special I am, for saving all the 99 Mudokons. A man can dream.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee little grown old over the past years. It still has the captivating climate which is pleasantly acting on the imagination, intelligent and cunning puzzles and interesting ideas that are able to impress even today. Its difficulty may put off a more casual audience but there will never be a time when it is unfair on you. With a clear conscience I recommend it to any fan of retro-play.

I'll try to be as subjective as I can... BUT it's gonna be hard seeing as how this and Tekken 2 were my first ps1 games back in the day. The PC version hasn't changed much, but in this case that's a good thing (lookin' at you New'n Tasty).

If you want to play a fun retro platformer with a lot of puzzle and problem solving while maybe learning a valuable leason about extreme consumerism I couldn't recommend any other game more highly enough.
