While many tell me that Heroes 3 is the best in the series(WHich is a subjective preferance)My Might and Magic support started with HoMM 5,many years ago.
The loading screen was a thing of epic proportions for both Vanilla HoMM 5 and Tribes of the East, the Third and best expansion.
If you are already familiar with HoMM,you know what this game involves.Building cities, conquering lands, gather artifacts for increassed power or new ones entierly for your heroes, who control vast armies of creatures and soldiers to aid you in your quest for dominance and power using a vide variety of different factions with various powers and special abilities, some which are unique to a certian faction, like the Necromancer faction, which can raise their enemies as undead monstosities through a power known as,needless to say,NEcromancy. This power lets you bolster your own ranks as you emerge victorious in battles across Ashan.
The game focuses on being able to manage resources, cities, armies and bonuses which cna be found on the various maps you have, all with hidden treasures and powerful buffs for your armies.
There are a total of 8 factions, all with their own variety of units and skills. These factions are the Humans of the Griffin Empire, the Demons of Sheogh,Asha's followers, the Necromancers, The Silver City mages, known as the Academy, the Dark Elves who dwell in the far Dungeons of the world, and their counterparts, the Sylvan Woodelves,The tough and hardy Dwarves, and the rampaging Orcish Tribes. Each faction has different strengths and weaknesses, like the Necromancers being able to quickly rack of their armies through necromancy,or dmeons being more challenging to play,Low Health but very costy
The ganeplay is played in two stages. The firts one is the movement and management stage, which has you run for a certian amount in order to capture mine sof gold,Sawmills, resources,Artifacts, engage enemy forces,or other things. You cna also manage your cities and build in this stage,as well as hire heroes, recruit troops, sell resources and artifacts, and seek information about the opossing forces through the tavern.
The second stage of the game is the combat. When your armies engage another army, you are taken to the battlefield. In this mode, you can move your forces using a hex-based movement system, menaing you cna use this to place your troops in strategic ways. You then decide to attack the enemy with a unit of your chice by using a very simple clicking system(Because clicking is hard as ♥♥♥♥ right?).
The forst to lose all his forces loses the battle,or if one of the armies surrender or retreat.
Thhe gaeme has alot of mechanics and gameplay funcitons, but it is deceptively easy to play and very fun,and with each creature playing a significant role in your armies with its own unique abilities, you will have some thinking to do if you want to stratgize properly, and with some RNG on some passives.
Recommendation: Start as the Necromancers if you are new to the game. They are fairly simple to play,or try to Humans or the DUngeon Dwellers, all 3 are relatively simple to play.
