Citywide blackouts ... stock exchange sabotage ... electronic hijacking of national defense systems ... this is information warfare.

To prevent these attacks, operatives must infiltrate deep into hostile territory and aggressively collect critical intelligence, closer than ever to enemy soldiers.

You are Sam Fisher, the NSA's most elite black-ops agent. To achieve your mission you will kill from close range, attack with your combat knife, shoot with the prototype Land Warrior rifle, and use radical suppression techniques such as the inverted neck break. Also take on cooperative multiplayer infiltration missions, where teamwork is the ultimate weapon.

As the enemy evolves, so must you.

Rather than asking for twitch reflexes and an emphasis on mass murder, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory asks the player to be aware.

This is not a game where the locales are merely canvases to spill blood - every inch of ever level is laden with multiple ways to progress through the mission. Shadows, vents, windows, pipes and balconies which can be hung off of... not only are you given a wide array of ways to avoid enemy detection, but these assets can be used to silently (and stylishly) take out enemies.

Not only does the environment give an incredible amount of replay-friendly playstyle options, but it also reeks of atmosphere and immersion in a way that I've never seen in a video game since. Not only are the dark, glistening graphics and ambient sounds well-done, but the moody soundtrack by Amon Tobin serves as the syrupy glaze to the atmospheric pancake. Meanwhile, the level design has a realistic feel to it, as though every hallway that you enter could be a real place.

Overall, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is a gameplay masterpeice and a technical marvel that still impresses today, over ten years after its release. Almost every aspect has such a great level of polish that, despite the game's relatively niche genre, I reccomend this game to everyone who has ever picked up a game controller.

Really solid stealth game with a pretty generic story. Co-Op Multiplayer is actually insanely fun.

One of the best stealth games ever released. Campaign and co-op are very difficult, and it punishes you for being too full of yourself. Interesting level variation, and hilarious in game dialogue provide a very enjoyable experience. Definitley pick this up if you are a stealth game fanatic.

this was one of my favorite games on ps2, and i like it even better on pc. way better picture quality (obviously on a monitor rather than an old tv).

same solid soundtrack by Amon Tobin.

i've read in the forums that there's no controller support or buggy controls, this has not been the case for me, using a logitech f710 it is exactly the same as the ps2 controls.

there's quite a few changes i wasn't expecting. some small, like random lights being missing or in a different spot, but some bigger ones (i'm assuming because they didn't need to seperate areas of the map with load screens for pc), it seems that some routes have been closed off and other ones opened up. even whole other areas you have to find to complete optional objectives that weren't there in the playstation version. also quicksave is a nice addition especially if you've already played the game a bunch of times and want to coast through it a bit.

there are some issues with the game working at all, but check the forums if you need to. i had to temporarily opt out of the steam beta to get the game to load, and quite a few others have said the same.

definitely recommended for any fan of stealth/tactical espionage

btw i never played the multiplayer in the ps2 or this version, so i can't comment on that...
