Blue Shift an expansion to the Half-Life franchise but as with any expansion to Half-Life it feels a little underwhelming when held up against the multitude of magnificent mods available for free.
Blue Shift casts you as the security guard Barney, letting Gorden Freeman have some quiet time until Half-Life 2 is released and sends you on your marry way through alien monstrosities and overzealous government soldiers. It plays much the same as the original, the weapons and enemies remain unchanged and the maps will feel eerily familiar as you battle through the corridors of Black Mesa.
The game just doesn't do anything new, it's feels almost like a recycled game, like you did all this before only it was fun the first time around. Thankfully the game is extremely short so your pain won't last long and you can safely uninstall this and go back the playing the various superior mods for Half-Life, both single- and multi-player.
Perhaps the only redeeming quality is the high definition models pack that comes bundled with Blue Shift that gives the game a little a extra. However it should be noted that Half-Life can look much prettier than even that, you just have to play maps and mods that weren't made by Valve.
