Here is how you play The Binding of Isaac:
STEP 1: Buy game
STEP 2: Launch game
STEP 3: Die on the second level of the basement because you don't know anything about the items you pick up.
STEP 4:Die on the second level AGAIN because of the ****ing boss.
STEP 5: Rage
Step 6 : Cry
STEP 7: Watch a hour youtube video about the monster/items on The Binding of Isaac
STEP 8: Watch some random theroy vidoes because you think they might help you but they didn't
STEP 9: Die by mom
STEP 10: Die by mom AGAIN
STEP 11: Die by mom AGAIN
STEP 12: Finnaly beat the game after about 1000000 tries just to know that it ends of, WITH A ****ING CUTSCENE!
THATS IT!

But seriously I got this on sale for 50 cents and it was worth every penny. Here are the reasons:
1. It is randomly generated. This means LOTS of replay ability.
2. Even though this game gives you ****ING CUTSCENE at the end, you now have the bragging rights to say you beat it!
3. This game is fun in a sadistic way and if you don't like blood then obviously by the screenshoots this is not your game.
Anyway those are my reasons why I love The Binding of Isaac. If you love randomly generated games, this is definetly up there in the NEED TO GET pile of games on steam.

I played “The Binding of Isaac” years ago on Xbox 360, and apparently I got it again for cheap in a Humble Bundle.
I can understand the joy of mastering a game, but the core gameplay of “The Binding of Isaac” just doesn’t draw me in.

Sometimes I’ll die on the first or second boss, other times I’ll defeat them. That major difference is almost entirely decided by “Did the right random item spawn beforehand?”
Boss fights are made easier if you go into their room with full health, but the close-quarters nature of the game means that you’re constantly getting hurt.
If I were a lot better at the game I would get used to these issues, but I don’t have very much fun playing it, so my skills will stay at an amateur level.

Plenty of difficult, good games have slaughtered me yet hooked me to play more and improve (Spelunky as another Roguelike, and Dark Souls), but The Binding of Isaac failed to do that.

The Binding of Isaac has a lot of strange items and secrets, but those aren’t worth the struggle and boredom IMO.

Listen. This game is great, there's no lie. But there is a much better remake, already with it's own DLC (and possibly another on the way) that runs incredibly smoother, has Steam Cloud support, working achievements, a ton more content, as well as this and this game's DLC's content, and a new soundtrack.

If you can't afford Rebirth/Afterbirth, then wait until a sale comes along, because this game stutters terribly on a GOOD PC.

Final rating: 9/10, but remake is 10/10

THIS GAME IS PERFECT

I am not a very big gamer but I bought this because I wanted to give it a try and I was blown away. I saw game play of it but it didn't look as fun as it actually is. It's exactly what you want if you only have a little left on your Steam account, a great game for under five dollars. The story and the game play and THE AMAZING SOUNDTRACK will get you hooked onto this game.

After going through hell the portal to which is in his own basement, Isaac tries to kill his super religious mother who has been told by god to sacrififice him.

-Why does Isaac have a portal to hell in his basement?
