I played a bit of Monaco with my friends and found it OK. Nothing amazing, but entertaining. It's not easy to understand how things work, and the amount of cooperative actions to be taken is huge. In the end we simply did things randomly all the time, but I'm sure that more dedicated players can extract much more from the gaming experience!

A simple 'yes' for a recommendation doesn't seem powerful enough for what is, truly, one of the finest experiences of gameplay I've ever seen.

Take 1 part heist movie, 1 part crayloa 64-count crayon box, 1 part mad magazine, and 1 part jaw-droppingly gorgeous soundtrack, and you being to get an idea of what the game is. You're a thief - and your job is to Pokemon the ♥♥♥♥ out of everyone elses valuables in the city of Monaco. Want to break into rooms quicker? Locksmith. Want to see everything at all times? Lookout. Want to....clean? The Cleaner. This game takes every single heist movie trope, turns it on it's ear, and then wraps it up in the most simple but polished beyond measure gameplay you're likely to find on any platform.

Oh, and that's just single player.

Multiplayer is even better. You REALLY learn about how your friends that you always planned that incredible heist with would react in that situation, because guess what? Neither one of you think alike, and you're going to be tripping alarms and getting shot by security guards left and right.

The best part of this game, however, is Austin Wintory's score. It's simply gorgeous, and makes an already great game my 2014 game of the year.

This game is unique. Strategy and cooperation at its best. Play alone to hone your ninja skills (without the need of flashy graphics or a third dimension) or play with friends where each one of you selects a different, often crucial, role in a heist. The gameplay is simple but adequate while the 8 playable characters offer completely different approaches to the same goal. You can run around take the objective and escape or you can take your time and clear out anything of value. The game's random factors allow replaying, which is always a pro in a game and in-game/steam achievements force you to try new things. The screenshots cannot convey the fact that while playing this game you have no need for more detailed graphics. Like chess what matters are the values of the players and their positions so don't judge it too fast.
