I would really like to give Guardians of MIddle-earth a decent review, but I am just unable to. I played the tutorial and two practice games against bots to get the hang of this moba type game, I felt ready to jump into a proper 5 on 5 pvp match after getting to grips with Gandalf and ripping the bots to shreds, so I queue up...estimated wait time, 1:20, that's not bad..... five minutes later, still waiting....

Check Steam Stats, 5 people are currently playing this game. Five. 5. Thats litterally half the amount of people needed to play an online game. The community here is dead. Stay away.

There wasn't many players almost one year ago, even with Guardians of Middle-earth as part of some Humble Bundle, by today this game is truly empty. I don't think that playing a game made for multiplayer purpose with bots are fun, so it's just waste of time and money. There are great MOBA games that are Free to Play, without any problems with playerbase. Sadly, for a "Gandalf and company" MOBA game, this price is too much. I'm not sure what devs were thinking, but I know that they wasted a great idea.

In all honesty this game should have been great, and a long time ago when it was first released this game was actually great. Released on the Consoles in 2012, this game was a well polished and much needed intorduction to the MOBA gameplay concept to console players.

The developers were fast and transparent. The community was alive and everyone was happy. Somehow the development team slowly changed from being fast and transparent to being non existent and deceitful..

It started with the release of one character, Snaga, he spelled the downfall of this glorious game. Somehow his release saw a magnitute of glitches and bugs which made the game unplayable, and until that point hadn't existed. Speed bugs, and gold mode bugs and everything imbetween.

The developers spent the next few months trying and failing to find a fix for the issues caused by Snaga's release. They released the remaining DLC characters and then went into hibernation mode.

This brings us to the PC release, a new Developer at the helm Zombie studios.. promises were made of fixing all the issues which plagued the Console release and and saw the once great community decimated.

Fast forward almost 2 years later and the PC game is a virtual graveyard. The game priced at 19.99 is unappealing to new gamers, and the gamers who already own it just flat out have no reason to play it. If you could write a book on missed potential GOME would be it.

The gameplay itself is really nice, the characters counter each other fairly well, no one character is super OP, the controls and movements are smooth. The learning curve isn't bad at all, and last but not least you can play as the well known Middle Earth characters.. With that said, I would avoid this game like the plague, if you already own it, idle those cards and remove it from your harddrive, if you don't own it, consider yourself lucky.

Not quite sure what this was supposed to be, but it ended up as a disgrace to the whole middle-earth genre.

If you like your money & good games. Then please do not buy this

Got this game in a humble bundle and decided to check it out; The LOTR feel is somewhat present, the music is nice and floating, the interface looks LOTRish but the gameplay is just weird. It feels plastic. I played DOTA 2 & LoL a little bit and I'm familiar with MOBA games, this one tried to achieve something, as it isn't quite a "clone" as some people here suggest, but the problem with this game is that it had failed in providing continuous and fluid gameplay throughout the match.

It just feels like the matches are boring, especially towards the end when you just can't wait for battle to end but you have to make that one final slash on the enemies main building.

I wouldn't recommend buying this game on Steam, but if you got it in a bundle or as a present from someone, I say give it a try. It's not a disaster, and it doesnt' deserve all the hate in the world (goat simulator got 90%+ score, I think this is at least worth SOME money while goat simulator should be banned but that's another story).

10/10 It Exists -IGN

Tired of plain old fully functioning sensible MOBAs with strong controls and some form of accessibility?
Tired of boring old precise mouse movements without a hint of unnecessary acceleration?
Are you bored of tooltips with a solid explanation of the skill in question?
Would you rather have cameras that don't pan in a sensible fashion and move when you point your mouse at the minimap?
Do you despise interesting and well-thought-out character and skill design?
Do you really love it when you just paid money for a broken-down version of the Ferrari you could have tried out for free across the street?

If you answered yes to any of the aforementioned questions, then this game is for you!
Features Include:
-Broken Mouse Precision
-Generic, Messily-Constructed Tooltips
-Awkward Camera Movement That Basically Forces You To Lock To Your Character
-Characters Which Come From The Lord of the Rings Lore (well thank goodness)
-Like Most Excellent Established MOBAs, It's FREE! (with the payment of $20 + Additional Cost If You Want To Have The Full Content Without Hours of Playtime)

If you're anything like me, you love the Lord of the Rings Franchise and the mechanics of MOBA gameplay.

And you'll love this ga-

I can't.

I just.

I-

Please kill me.

I´ve seen a lot of bad MOBAs, but this, this takes the cake. I see no reason to play this pay-to-win game when there are so many great MOBAs out there for free. I encountered heavy Lag issues when playing against other people, cant get heros without paying money (except a small starting pool) and even as a Lord of the Ring fan, i was dissapointed about the loveless implemetation of the chararcters. To sum it up: NOPE

Do not buy this game. It was terrible on the consoles, and it did not improve on the PC. Since it started, I still cannot join a match with a full complement of other human players. Most of my games are against bots only. More to the point, DOTA 2 is superior in every way to this game, and that game is for free. I see no reason to spend money on this travesty of a MOBA.

This game is poo stain because it is.

I like the characters like the big fat ogre with sweaty nipples but that is irrelevant.

The queue times take longer than it takes to cook a small child on Mark 10 and I nearly fell asleep.

When I got ingame it put me into a 5 v 5 match with 4 bots on each team and some guy who spent a bajillion ungandan dollars on the game. He proceeded to wipe the floor with me like my mother did after I threw up in the kitchen.

Acquired this game through the Humble Bundle and being a LOTR fan, I was really excited to jump in game. Unfortunately for this game with immense amounts of potential, the developers seem to have neglected any sort of updates or fixes for the PC client. Can't speak for the console version of the game, but it can't be much better.

I would hold off several months and see if any changes are made later on, but until then, not worth playing.

Being a huge Lord of the Rings fan, and somewhat fan of the whole MOBA genre, it bums me out to see a game with such potentional, never amount to anything. The lag spikes is really what kills it for me. Not to mention (despite that lag) that I was actually having rather hard time with mouse and keyboard, rather than using an controller.

At this point the game is dead. Official forums are full of unrelated bot spam, no official postings since Jan of 2014.
Shame really, it held such potential if they had taken it seriously and not just jumped on the "just another moba" bandwagon.
Avoid at all costs, even single player gets monotonous.

Terrible game. It feels like it was designed by someone that has never played a MOBA. The interface is horrible, the tutorial doesn't walk you through the basics of how to choose a champion. There are way too many active ability choices outside of hero selection. The heroes don't feel like they've ever seen a balance stick ever. The game is just bad, plain bad.
