Announcing The Maze Engine: Guild Alliances!

In our continued effort to improve the quality of life for Neverwinter, we’re releasing a new update on June 7. The Maze Engine: Guild Alliances will contain several improvements to existing systems or content, which we’ll reveal as we approach the update’s release.

As the name states one of the major system changes will be guilds and strongholds. Previously, smaller guilds had a rough time donating to their coffer and keeping up with larger guilds who would unlock boons and gear at an accelerated pace due to their membership. We’re introducing alliances as a way for more adventurers to play together, organize events and to strengthen their stronghold. More information on alliances will be released in the near future!

A second major change coming will be Sword Coast Chronicles: a campaign of campaigns, if you will. This storybook-like interface will seamlessly mesh all campaigns together so adventurers won’t be intimidated when they hit level 70. Sword Coast Chronicles will guide new adventurers through the recommended order of post-70 content and will contain unique rewards.

Much like The Maze Engine, there’s much more around every corner and will be revealed soon!

Portobello's Campaign Has Arrived!

The Day of the Dungeon Master has arrived!

Though it’s actually more like a month...

I’m so excited to announce that both Respen’s Marvelous Game and Portobello’s Campaign are now available for you to play! For the next few weeks you’ll be able to visit the Burrow Dawn Inn (as seen at the 2015 PAX Prime live show), be evaluated by Flabbergast and Mr. Snibbly, get mocked by some cheeky gargoyles and more as you journey through the magical mind of dungeon master extraordinaire, Chris Perkins.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mkf2W3jNXSM

Be sure to check out both Respen’s and Portobello’s campaigns as each has tasks to offer during the month-long event.

In between evaluations at the Burrow Dawn Inn, don’t forget to check the event queues for new ways to be tested. A new queue will open up each week, so be sure to check back regularly.

Thanks for reading and I can’t wait to see you in game!

Fun game, lots of additional content to keep you interested.

My only issue is that there is no controller support.

Why?? The Xbox One version is fully controller capable. There is no reason why steam shouldn't support controller functionality.

You can check out my full review of Neverwinter Online here

I'd like to say that I don't think Neverwinter Online is inherently pay to win. Sure there are pay to win elements in the game that could easily be stamped out but that's not the most offensive part of this game.

Let me tell you a story. Imagine a game called Neverwinter Online. In this fantasy world there was a beta server that a company called Cryptic set up specifically to test for bugs in upcoming patches and updates.

A new class called the Hunter Ranger is scheduled to appear in the next update, but something is off about it. Every so often the stars will align and particle effects from a specific ability of the Hunter Ranger will not go away, lagging and crashing instances as particles are spewed out. Very frustrating, but Cryptic knows just what to do! It releases the Hunter Ranger and doesn't warn anyone about the known bugs and glitches with the class! For almost 3 weeks straight, instances are lagging and crashing as the players discover this bug for themselves. Finally, Cryptic decides to go ahead and patch the problem. It was then that the players found out the actual timeline of this bug. It was initially found six months earlier.

This, is a true story.

Has it's good and bad points, once you reach lvl 60 you need to grind big time or pay to continue on. I enjoy the quests, the d&d lore, the community is alright too. For sure has a lot of pay to win aspects and its tempting not to spend a ton of money on keys for chests... I just wanted a damn owlbear.

The game is not working. This whole 6.1 hours i have been deleting and doing all the patches over and over again because when i launch it it loads the first loading bar. After that the game is unresponsive and crashes. I have played this on xbox One before and had no problems. If anyone has this same problem and knows how to fix it then help please.

The hours listed on my steam profile are inaccurate since I started playing this game via the arc launcher. I have invested close to 500 hours into this game, and only recently bought something. My review is accurate and unbiased and comes from someone who has played since module four.

My oldest character is a trickster rogue. I joined the game after the class had been nerfed beyond belief and did little to no damage but could roll around in perma-stealth with no issues at level 25. It was terrible. Fast-forward we're now somewhere between modules 8 and 10 (it really depends on who you ask) and the game has really...evolved; a lot of the game has changed - from the balancing of the characters to the storyline itself.

+ Wide range of classes and races
+ Decent customization (could be better)
+ Variety in powers, ability to customize to your playstyle
+ Decent leveling experience, not too grindy but not ez-pz
+ Great for groups
+ Amusing voice acting, easy to poke fun at

- ♥♥♥♥♥♥ class balancing, I really just don't understand what they are doing with the paladin
- Slow server upgrades/repairs
- Spam bots galore
- Micro-transactions everywhere
- Inability to gift anything from the zen-market to a friend
- Lack of steam achievements (would really make the grind more enjoyable for us achievement hunters)
- Boring on your own
- Support does literally ♥♥♥♥ all

If I'm completely honest you can play the game and have fun without spending a time. When I joined the game that wasn't a thing, you almost had to buy things off the zen market to even have a chance and make it fun. That has changed in the last few months and the game is actually quite fun again. It's a little grindy and it gets repetetive, but it is a RPG so that honestly is to be expected. My biggest complaints are the spam-bots that never cease and the lack of steam achievements (because I am an achievement hunter). Over all I highly recommend the game.

NEVER-RICH-ENOUGH. In Perfect World's eyes, unless you are a direct descendent of the Neverwinter Crown or a high noble of the Jewel of the North, your experience will be limited to that of the slums or sewers. It is as if Lord Nasher said screw the Lords' Alliance, we are only accepting billionaires.

Seriously though, every interaction in the game eventually comes down to Zenny. Astral Diamonds are a commodity in this game, and gold buys you absolutely nothing of value. They put that currency in there for aesthetics only. However, if you are a sucker for mobile cash grab games, and don't mind pouring $100/month into those, then by all means do yourself a favour and switch to this game. You will certainly have more fun.

Yes, you can have fun playing this game when there isn't a microtransaction sneaking around every corner. No amount of Search or Listen training will prepare you for that garbage. Hopefully one day Perfect World will drop the license for Neverwinter and allow a new developer to take it up and maybe bring us what we all deserve, a Neverwinter Nights 3. We can only pray to the gods for a miracle, hopefully within 10 years best case scenario.

I had been playing for some while and the micro purchases were just too tempting. Today I decided to purchase a bit of 'zen' so I could turn it into another in-game currency to buy a companion.

They were very happy to take my money, but because the transaction was made via my Steam Wallet - they have limited my use of the funds and suspended my ability to exchange currencies for an indeterminate amount of time. No phone support, you can only submit a ticket which also, MAY be replied to within an indeterminate amount of time.

Exceptionally efficient in their ability to shut down a potential customer in the long run.

Played a LOT of this game before i was banned and had to start new. Max lvl toons best gear all looking the way i wanted, spent money in the shop...then began to realize what a skinner box it was, mentioned in chat that it was a gambling site with combat. WHAM! BANNED! Not just for this game but banned my star trek online acount i had linked to the same address (had that game since launch not so much as a report on me.) No joke No B.S. They have spent a lot of time and money designing this game around addiction and the only thing they care about is the $$$$$ Stay away and be afraid be very AFRAID!

I was a big fan of the Neverwinter series. Hearing about a NWN mmo worried me a bit. And with good reason, it's everything i feared. Never turn a great series into an MMO. The same thing happened with the LoK series, it's like seeing your childhood hero prostituting himself/herself for attention.

Even though my time say 1.2 hours, I have played this game on XBOX ONE for hundreds of hours. Before Mod 5 this game was amazing for a free to play. The dungeons (That were taken out) Were creative and numerous enough where you didn't get bored. After the installation of future mods, the point of the developers became quite clear. They made a half broken game to keep you from leaving, all so you would spend money to get accepted into epic dungeons, and PVP.

I don't really have much else to say, as more recent reviews have pinned this game down as entirely accurate. For new players, they will love it, but as you will discover, once you maxed your character as far as levels go, you will be booted, for not being an elite pay to win player, or your game will crash constantly from Cryptics absolutely terrible servers, and even more horrendous patches, which just add items for you to buy, and don't fix a damn thing.

All in all, do not play this game. It is but a mere shadow of what it was when it first came out, and jumped head first off the cliff of greed, and terrible optimization. Don't believe me? Read the other reviews, they are completely accurate.

P.S. Don't bother commenting on Cryptics forums, they will delete your well versed complaints, regardless of whether or not they are staight-forwards and critical. Not to mention, if you were like me, and spend $10 dollars for a mount, only to have the discount not go through, again, do not bother emailing them. They will blame you, even if you provide a screenshot as evidence that they ♥♥♥♥ed up.

Run away now.

Every time players find a way to have fun with their broken classes or discover a new way to make the game's currency inside the game, comes Cryptic idiotic management and ruins the game with nerfs and badly planned modules that create more problems that they can fix it.

It is the kind of game that had everything to be a perfectly good experience, however ask any player (even if they still play the game) their opinions on the way the game is managed and you can be certain you will not hear one good comment.

Another thing that you should now, before wasting hours of your time: grinding the free to play route is not an option. You'll pay a lot of money (USD 150+) just to be able to decently play your character in a broken game. When and if you find a way to do that, you should know, nothing good inside the game lasts more than 2-3 months, that is, your money has no value.

This was a fun game and at the start all the way to level 20ish its fun. But eventuly it becomes the same thing over and over again. When the game was new being high level was rewarding and fun. You could do fun dungens and pvp with friends and other people. However with the recent updates thi game became 100% sh*t and just a scam to try to get mony from you. Plus most all the players have stoped playing. Would i recomend this game now... hell no. But keep a eye out just incace those lazy devs get off there asses and do something.

I'd love to be able to write a review of this game, but every single time I install and attempt to run it the damn thing crashes my system during the patch updates - although amusingly the game time counter says I've played over 3 hours of it?!?

Three hours of swearing, sweating and staring at the update screen while wondering whats going to cause a crash this time more like :(

Suffice it to say that I've given up any hopes of ever being able to run this, so I'm removing any trace of it from my system.

Shame really
