Crysis 2 is one of the most graphic intensive games available (besides it's seuqle Crysis 3) Crysis 2 consists of Run & Gun/Stealth elements that combine together to create a satisfing gaming experience, the story is engaging and new features are introduced as the game progresses, this is done to keep the player engaged in the game as they continue through the story. In Crysis 2 you are equiped with a nano-suit which gives you the capabilities of higher jumping, super strength, stealth systems and armour hardening. The multiplayer was funny back when the game was released however the PVP Multiplyer has become desserted/dead as of 2014 you are lucky to encounter a decent latency server which has a decent player count and is no longer a viable gamemode to choose. Overall Crysis 2 is an awesome FPS game which deserves a 10/10

Really enjoyed this game. Decent story, graphics and gameplay. Nothing groundbreaking, just fun to play as a casual gamer. Used an XBox One controller without issue. Did have to backtrack once; restore a save and replay a section to get around a glitch that wouldn't let me through a door, other than that game was solid.

Great game! The core gameplay is really solid; open battles where you use your suits powers for stealth, assault, scouting and agility. The weapons are really fun and distinct, with superb modeling and sound design. However the plot and pacing felt a bit contrived; a few levels were underwhelming, especialy the final one.

I enjoyed it more than Crysis; the AI is less annoying (although enemies still can spot you from very long distances) and the Ceph are a lot more fun to fight this time. I somewhat miss the suit's "strength" and "speed" hotkeys, but having them as passive abilities improved the flow of the game.

The Basics: Very pretty disaster porny first person shooter with a cyborg suit
Previous Time Spent: 27 minutes
Expectation of learning Curve: low
Why I bought this: Extremely cheap steam sale (long enough ago that I don't remember it)
First Impressions: This is a good looking game, but my first impressions were marred by expecting it to be fairly boring/boilerplate. I found myself frustrated by the long, live-action CNN/Fox News intro, and the standard tutorial which slowly unlocks controls. I did find the submarine escape in the beginning kind of thrilling, but I ultimately found it to be more annoying due to loss of control than anything else. For a game that seems to be really about a cool cyborg killing small squads of soldiers, it spends a lot of time pretending that the audience is interested in it's story.

My 3 hours: I spent the entire 3 hour playthrough in the singleplayer campaign, figuring that a game this old would probably end up not well-supported on the multiplayer front. The game takes place in 2023 in NYC, with the main character as a marine who takes on the mantle of a crazy cyborg (nanosuit) suit of power armor. This power armor confers a bunch of special abilities to the player, including cloaking, resistance to damage, and seemingly extreme strength. In a lot of ways, it plays like a more violent, sprawling version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Much of the gameplay is focused on advancing from checkpoint to checkpoint while dealing with environmental hazards and squads of soldiers. These challenges escalated in a pretty satisfying way during my 3 hours with the game, and did a fairly good job of introducing the player to new tactics/ideas in order to surpass them. The bread and butter of it is often finding cool places to hide/shoot soldiers from, while taking cover when appropriate, and sometimes turning invisible to feel like the Predator. The main character feels extremely powerful in the suit, bringing me back to old-school shooter games and the feeling of being a one man army.

The story that's told in the game is one of an alien virus and a harsh crackdown, and much of it feels pretty standard issue, but some of the environmental storytelling great. The scene that immediately follows the opening, allows the player to slowly acclimate themselves to a New York city that appears to be under martial law, between audio records on laptops, and the horrible remains of living people. It then allows the player to slowly make their way from Battery Park and head north. The game is at it's best when it's providing interesting combat challenges, or allowing one to feel like a tourist in a believable near future New York.

My Highlight: For me, the greatest joy I had with the game came fairly early, and is pictured above, a mix of combat and infiltration set in Castle Clinton, bringing me back to one of the early missions of my beloved Deus Ex. As you can see above, the historical marker is even legible, and the attention to detail shown in the environment conveys a clear sense of place. The game introduces the stealth mechanic there, which is pretty fun, and allowed me to feel like The Predator.

My Verdict:I generally kinda liked this game, but much of the joy I got out of it, I think I got because it reminded me of things I liked better. It made me think of Deus Ex and Half Life 2 the most, between the sprawling levels, the near-superpowers given by nanites, and the environmental storytelling. I can't strongly recommend it, but I think it's a game that is good at what it intends to do .

Crysis 2 often isn't considered as good as its predecessor by many fans of the franchise. While it's true that the maps have gotten smaller and more linear, Crysis 2 has a lot less technical issues and makes a good job at presenting and advancing the plot line.

+ Atmospheric intro video and loading screen videos
+ Great soundtrack
+ Stealth killing with a knife from behind is introduced to the franchise
+ It looks great and runs well
+ New York is neatly done and has many details

- Too many alien enemies who aren't that fun to fight against as humans
- While using cloak mode, enemies seem to "randomly" walk into the right direction towards you although they shouldn't know where I am.
- Sadly, the game mechanics are a bit dumbed down because it's a console port: 1. you can't save manually anymore 2. you can't destroy the environment as much anymore. 3. nanosuit powers like maximum speed and strength are removed. 4. much more linear gameplay than before
- Ending felt a bit weak

I would recommend buying this game since I had fun playing it. But if you are still interested in playing this game, you should download a mod that integrates the quicksaving function: 7,5/10

This game was hit when it released. the multiplayer was cool, so was the campaign

If you want to purchase the game now , you can't expect any multiplayer as mycrysis.com has completley shutdown and yet there is a login pop up everytime you start the game

And if you just want to play single player, you can purchase this but if you run int to any problem with in the game inbetween you can't cant expect anything from support as it is dead since 2014.

Great FPS, like the story really picks up at the end. They left it open for the third one which is not on Steam. Nice mix of sci-fi in it worth a try. A couple of nice surprises.

Crysis 2 is very different from the first 2 games. They've changed gameplay so much. You don't choose nanosuit modes manually now except cloak and armor. I don't know if it's good or not but game is great anyway. I loved the gameplay mechanics, enviroment and detaching the mgs. Oh, you can also upgrade your nanosuit and it comes really handy in some situations. There were no collectibles or some extra thing in first 2 games but Crysis 2 includes collectibles and it's really fun if you ask me! Only bad thing about the game is story in my opinion but apart from that, game is great.

Solid first person shooter. It is very much a linear game which I have nothing against. On the second hardest difficulty the enemies are tough and do hurt you if you are not careful. Humans are laughably easy later on the game and offer no challenge at all. For me sneaking was the way to go. Sometimes I got bored and didn't kill enemies at all and just sneaked trough the levels. The shooting mechanics are basic, nothing wrong in them.

Game had multiple assault rifles available. I think the first one you get was the best one. You get silencer, red dot sight and singleshot firing mode later on. That was my main weapon of choise. Second slot I filled with sniper-rifle, LMG or shotgun as I saw fit for the map. There were some special weapons also but I usually found no use for them. Gauss-rifle would have been nice to carry around but you get it so late in the game that there is little use for it.

I didn't care about the plot that much. I found it stupid, a bit silly, full of cliches and offered no surprices for me.

Visually the game looks very good. Especially when you think it is already five years old when I write this.

I did not run into any serious bugs. I think it crashed on alt-tab couple of times, but that was partly my fault.

I would not recommend anyone to pay 20€ for it, but if you get it on a sale certainly. If you like FPS-games, go for it.

So basically you are going to buy a special edition that gives you more multiplayer items that are going to be useless soon since Multiplayer is soon shutting down on it...
Nice....

Purchased this game because it came from the same publisher that currently makes tetris. This is nothing like tetris.

Five stars.
