I got these on sale... while they are a nice addition I would not buy the extras unless it included more content for the game.

The extras are not worth the extra cost IMHO. I could justify this if it included the DLC that has more gameplay content.

Other than that I love the base game of Alan Wake and highly recommend the base game.

Excellent and informational video commentary. The book is well-written and -illustrated, in-universe, non-fiction, in PDF format. It's by Clay Steward, who also appears in the game and also has recurring nightmares; it's about the mysterious occurrences related to the small town. He, too, was drawn to it, and lost things related to his personal life because of it, albeit less than Alan. Set after, and fits in well with, the game. It reveals more about Agent Nightingale, through his field notes, interview transcriptions, also including script pages, Wake's fiction, some non-fiction and exhibits. Each keeps you interested and is short but sweet, length ensuring it has an impact but doesn't overstay its welcome. You get to spend a little more time with several of the game's major characters. It also doesn't reveal too much or overexplain. Great, atmospheric soundtrack. Worth the money.

Love Alan wake. I originally had it on my xbox and it was the only game I missed when I sold my Xbox and so I had to buy this again and it was only $4 for the entire franchise during Christmas so I had no reason not to. The story of this game is like nothing i have ever played before and that is what i love about this game. The story draws you in and does not let go and even when you finish the game it leaves you wanting more.

Alan Wake Collector's Edition Extras is DLC for the game Alan Wake which provides in-game director commentary, an illustration book in PDF format, and the soundtrack to the game. Much of the soundtrack consists of the lyricless background music, but it also includes three tracks from the game which include singing, all performed by Poets of the Fall (or Old Gods of Asgard in-game).

The music is a large part of how Alan Wake set the mood it strove for, and the soundtrack is well worth the purchase alone.

This DLC goes on sale when the core game does, so feel free to wait for a sale if you prefer.
