This was the first game I ever bought on Steam.

Five years later, I'm still playing it and enjoying the hell out of it.

Thanks, ReDigit.

I sank nearly 2000 hours into this game and not reviewing for several reasons: Waiting it out for new content, borderline laziness and more borderline laziness.

This game is appealing to everyone, unless you are a 6 year old COD squeaker who is physically incapable of understanding "fun".

Builders? Check. Explorers? Check. People who like blowing stuff up? Double check.

And another thing to add: Unlike a lot of other games, Terraria is just incredible by itself. I've modded it, but had a hard time sinking in as much time as I did in the vanilla game.

It's not really a game, it's a time machine that takes you to 3am.

So after 600+ hours, I figured I knew enough about the game, and I will say that it is a great game. It was a great experience learning new things for me and getting overpowered quick. The only thing that I really didn't like however, was that npc housing is very "glitchy" to say the least, but the game is incredibly creative for 2d, but I really don't like how certain methods of doing things can leave a very broken gameplay to say the least. Like certain weapons should be nerfed massively. I also tried the game out with several mods and enjoyed that as well.

Overral GREAT game: so worth $10 spent.
If you like sandbox and exploration games THIS GAME IS FOR YOU.

Holy hell. What a ride this has been.

I first recieved this game when I was selected as the winner of a giveaway. I thought, "Whatever, I've played Minecraft. This game is probably the exact same as it." After all, there are certain similarities between both games. Find yourself stranded in the wilderness, mine ores and create some bland weapons and kill a generic boss and win.

But the similarities end exactly there.

Now, this game, in the starting phase, is actually quite bland, and I nearly quit because of it at first, but with the help of some friends, I stuck with it. It was pretty generic stuff. Mine some boring ores, build a boring house, feel the occasional rush of excitement of succesfully spelunking a cave and escaping unscathed with a new weapon, or dying and dropping your money. You'll die quite a bit as well, but don't let that discourage you. The moment I realized the exact depth of the game (and realized Iactually loved this game) was the moment my friends and I summoned what is to be considered the first boss, the Eye of Cthulu. The intensity of the battle, especially with our underprepared selves and crappy armor (hint: armor is your best friend!) made victory all the more satisfying. The adrenaline rushes as a boss attack leaves you at low health and your struggle to survive easily surpasses Minecraft in it's entertainment value. Yet I believed that was all the game had to offer, that one bit of awesomeness.

Excluding event bosses, there are over 14 different and unique bosses of Terraria, each with their own unique powers, and in Expert mode, their strength is vastly increased and each boss gains a lethal special attack, from the Eye of Cthulu's blinding fast rushes to the Skeletron's deadly skull spin. No two bosses are the same, nor can they be approached in the same way. Nearly every boss requires meticulous planning and building. But that's not all. because you know what's better than killing a boss?

Sweet, sweet loot.

Emerging victorious from a boss fight is definitely cause for celebration, but emerging victorious with a new weapon is even better. From shields that allow for bash-like charging, to a scarf that reduces damage by 17%, every boss kill is new and gratifying with the loot.

Now, about now is where you can pick your specialization, especially if you're playing with friends. Will you be the hulking tank, absorbing all of the damage to protect your teammates? Or the looming mage, casting deadly spells from behind, or an archer, raining down death from above? It doesn't matter. After all, in Terraria, you're free to do what you want.

And right when you think things are getting bland again, hardmode hits you. All of your weapons and armor's effectiveness is quartered. Enemies are a challenge again. Venturing out at night is a near death sentence. New enemies will spawn, and new loot along with it. But again, don't be discouraged. You'll die quite a bit, after all. Build your strength up again, and go kick some ♥♥♥.

Terraria, is just a game that is so much worth it for only 9.99€!

The content in this game is convenient for every single type of player :

-If you want to just explore the world without a challenging difficulty, the game offers you the choice to do so!

-If you're just a casual player that just wants to have a nice time in a game, our dear Terraria will be there for you. You can literally do everything in it. Same thing goes in your customisation of your character. (Weapons and the Gameplay of your character)

-If you're someone eager for some hardcore survival with a monstrous number of monsters & traps, Terraria, can literally be your main game for that. (It ain't harder than a Dark Souls game, but it's still challenging!)

Sometimes, you'll surely feel a little bit alone while playing Terraria alone and slightly/completely bored, but there's hopefully the multiplayer mode! You can create your own server to play with your friends anytime you want! And you don't even know how much Terraria is fun when you're with friends, the fun you can have is literally multiplied by 10 times when there are your friends around!

Although, I'll have to agree that the game can sometimes be VERY confusing & you'll surely feel lost in all of this information you'll have to acquire and learn.
Anyways, since the game has a lot of content/items and crafting method & possibility, feel free to use the Wiki whenever you want! The wiki helps you with everything! Want a specific item? Know everything about ores? About monsters and biomes? Every single thing is on the wiki! (Don't forget that you can also check out the Guides that some lovely players have done! <3)

So yeah, my thought on Terraria, is totally positive! You should REALLY try terraria, you surely won't even regret that!

Know to many as the minecraft ripoff, this great 2D adventure sandbox game is just beyond awesome. One of my personal favorites and definetely worth the 10 euros. It in my opinion doesn't have much cons and the community is active too (As far as I know). It has great boss battles, some harder than others and has different gamemodes to play in, from easy to expert. You can do pretty much anything here and the possibilities are endless. I'd give this game a 9/10, because games can always improve at something, for example the Steam multiplayer bugging out a lot.

An amazing 2D alternative to Minecraft, with many funny world layers, features, building possibilies and most important BOSSES! Yes boss battles! Most fun in Multiplayer of course. Unfortunately the world quickly becomes small in range, since it does not randomly extend like Minecraft and therefore has a fixed size.

This game is 2d Minecraft but about 50.654373 times better. Your can be a mage, warrior, ranger summoner, or even a master yoyo dude. I would recommend this game to anyone that can play it.

Been playing Terraria for years now, both alone and with my little brother. Together we've probably banked roughly 1500 hours. Challenging, exciting, addictive and super re-playable. I've made hundreds of worlds and every time I do, it's just as fun as the first time. We can't wait for the next installation from Re-Logic! I absolutely recommend this game to everyone and their grammy.

Had this game for a few years. Still a great fallback game. Always enjoyable. Pretty sure the hrs on record is wrong as I mainly play offline & LAN. Once I picked this up, I left all my other survival & exploration games for Terraria. It's a little cartoonish with the characters, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

This game is great and has a great variety of things to do. Even after you've beat the game. There is more ways to build than minecraft and more things to do. So I dont even know why it is one of Terraria's top competitor. I quit minecraft because this game happens to be more intellegent. Minecraft is for children. Terraria is for 13 and older.
